Report
Introduction Studies conducted indicate that globally, there are over 24 million people affected with schizophrenia. A chronic mental condition whose promises are through audiovisual episodes and frequent psychotic episodes. Schophereian is amongst the most stigmatized and poorly understood mental conditions despite its high prevalence in which the different symptoms of the disease present. Through the distorted information about the condition, it becomes difficult for the affected to access better treatment. A study conducted in the United Kingdom in 1737 people who have schizophrenia indicated that over 70% of the general public population regarded patients with schizophrenia as unpredictable and dangerous to others in society (Crisp et al., 2000). In a different study on medical and nursing students, the findings indicated that 78% of the students believed schizophrenia patients are violent and dangerous. In comparison, 40 % of the students were reluctant to accommodate schizophrenia patients in any social situation (Llerena et al., 2002). Thus, to understand schizophrenia best, the study will focus on the simulation of the psychotic episodes of schizophrenia, which is part of exposure therapy that helps in desensitization to psychotic episodes. Emphasis will be on auditory hallucinations, individual intrusive thoughts, disorganized thinking, and paranoia. Simulation of schizophrenia is a 3600 computer-generated empirical data that psychiatrists and psychologists collect. The goal of schizophrenia simulation is the creation of an individual's perception of reality and a precise atmosphere of schizophrenia. The objective of this essay will be to create a virtual reality simulation whose aim is to replicate schizophrenia symptoms and impact. Evaluation and Assessment The Diagnostic Statistical Manual that explains mental disorders is the approved standard diagnostic tool for any mental health condition. Under the tool, there are several listed schizophrenia assessment or screening tools that help in the analysis of the mental status of an individual. The study will employ the use of "The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), which evaluates both the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Positive symptoms are represented through an excess or alteration of what is considered a normal function that may include delusions and hallucinations. Negative symptoms, on the contrary, represent the normal function loss that may fall under effects and motivation. The PANSS schizophrenia scale comprises a 30-item questionnaire that aims to show the negative and positive symptoms and determine their relationship to one another. This would be administered after the virtual simulation to determine the impact on the online participants of the study. On a scale of 1-7, the group members would be able to rate the patient's mental schizophrenia stability. The study hopes to ensure that the virtual simulation of schizophrenia is the best attempt at uncovering the negative and positive psychological responses in addition to providing a road map that would guide future-centered research information.
Conclusion The functional recovery by patients holds much importance in their overall status. However, this is not the same. This is a group study that will focus on the simulation of psychotic episodes of schizophrenia. This would be achieved through replication of the experience of survivors of schizophrenic psychotic episodes whose experiences are cited online. Through the findings at the end of the study, future students can determine further the study through understanding and testing more attributes under simulation. However, a delipidating factor is the confusing information about schizophrenia that is in the public, which results in high stigma and discrimination that results in unmet needs directed at the therapeutic interventions. The simulation process of psychosis, as described, is an effective tool for understanding the mental stability of patients and for knowing the best intervention measure that should be administered. Notably, schizophrenia simulation is in the psychosis prodromal stage that happens in the extreme premorbid deviant personalities. Thus, through the study, we appreciate and empathize more with the affected rather than stigmatize or discriminate against them.
