1 Mental health can be described as psychological, emotional and social well-being. In children, it results in developmental delays, including other problems such as behavioural problems and the inability to regulate emotions. A variety of adverse experiences may impact a child's health. The aspects include substance abuse, being a victim of violence or having divorced parents, which is not the case in our scenario. Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) is an 11-item rating scale used by paediatricians to assess children's mental state. The rating scale can also track how the child responds to treatment to determine whether extra measures are required ( Mohammadi et al., 2018). Besides the highlighted treatment options, supportive psychotherapy can significantly help treat children's mental health. Problem-focused psychotherapy encourages expressing feelings to allow the therapist to develop a problem-solving technique. The treatment option closely relies on the relationship between the therapist and the client ( Munroe et al., 2022) Catherine Thank you for your post, Catherine. Poor mental health has been associated with a low life expectancy, ability to perform well and a poor relationship between children and the parents . It also results to developmental delays in children, behavioral problems and difficulty in regulating their emotions. Various factors such as being a victim of violence, substance abuse and having divorced parents are some of contributing factors to children mental health issues ( Biddle et al., 2019) . Other than the treatment options you have highlighted, Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) has proven effective in treating children with mental health conditions. Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) is an 11-item rating scale used by psychiatrics to assess the mental health of children and adolescents. Other than assessing mental health conditions, the tool
2 is also able to monitor the child’s response to treatment to assess whether additional measures are required (Saito et al., 2020). I wish you luck in your future pursuits! References Biddle, S.
