DOCUMENTATION OF PLANNING CYCLE Name of Experience: Painting Number of Children: 2 Children’s Ages: 3-4 years Date of Implementation: PART 1 Collect Information – Observation What do you observe or notice? Look for the extraordinary in the ordinary moments by making learning visible. I saw that a girl named Selena and some of her friends were painting the things. she chose the wrong colours for different things, like making trees blue. Question and Analyse - Observation What do you understand about what you observed? What did you find interesting or extraordinary? What learning is being demonstrated? What can you extend on? Suggest few experiences. What are the interests and strengths of child/ren observed? Link the information to EYLF/VEYLDF learning outcomes. I know that the child doesn't know much about colour. She was getting involved in the action, but she needs to learn more about the colours. Learning Outcome #4: Children learn with confidence and interest. Children develop attitudes that help them learn, like curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination, and self-reflection. Children also learn a variety of skills and processes, like how to solve problems, ask questions, try things out, make hypotheses, do research, and look into things. Children take what they have learned in one setting and use it in another. Children learn by making connections with other people, places, tools, and both natural and made things. PART 2 Plan Learning Intention/s to achieve by the end of experience (one or two): For children to understand… For children to explore…For children to practice… etc EGEC PLACEMENTS FORM. I planned to teach the kids the names of colours and how they work with different things. Strategies: What strategies you might use to promote children’s interest, play and learning? This might include interations, resources, intentional teaching. You might include some examples of modelling, scaffolding or open ended questions. How will you encourage children to learn from each other? How will the environment support play and learning? I'll show charts with the names of colours and one or two things that are that colour. I'll show them different items with different colours so they can learn what each colour means. Act and Do (Implementation) Implement your experience: Did you need to modify for any reason? Any emergent experiences that arose? Give specific examples of children’s involvement. What learning processes have you observed the children using (problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching, investigating…)? I will run the tasks based on the names of the colours and the items that go with them. I will tell the kids to bring one thing in a certain colour. Review and Reflect (Evaluation) Review: With the learning aims and the EYLF/VEYLDF learning outcomes in mind, evaluate the learning and the planning. What worked well? What can you improve? Do you need to repeat, refine or extend the plan? How will you follow up? The plan to teach the child about colours aligns with building the child's confidence, curiosity, and ability to learn. It's a good thing to encourage people to get involved in events related to colour. We can add more different and involved colour-related activities to improve the plan, like art projects or games with a colour theme. The child can learn more about colours by doing these tasks repeatedly and getting better at them. As a follow-up, you should test the child's knowledge and give them chances to use colour ideas differently, which will help them learn more. Reflect: What did you learn about yourself and your practice as a teacher. Any changes to your practice as a result? I've learned that the way I guide the kids can help them learn about colours.
