Theoretical Framework for Intervention Approach Bandura's Social Learning Theory, Albert Bandura's theory that children learn how to behave by observing others around them (Chang & Dean, 2022). Social Cognitive Theory, Albert Bandura's theory that people develop skills through practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Albert Bandura's theory that new behaviors can be learned through practice “Be a Friend” is supported by Bandura's (1977) social learning theory, which states that all forms of behavior are learned through observational learning
Strengths Based on the idea that children are more likely to engage in positive behaviors if they feel connected with their classmates, teachers, and other adults (Bandura & Walters, 1977) Provides an opportunity for children to practice empathy and compassion towards others who might be struggling with issues like depression or anxiety
Weaknesses There isn't much evidence yet on how effective this training actually is at preventing bullying or improving relationships between students. The intervention it requires a lot of time from teachers who may already be stretched thin by larger classroom sizes or other responsibilities like after-school tutoring programs (Rumjaun & Narod, 2020)

Conclusion A few key similarities and differences that I observed across videos of the intervention "Be a Friend" were that they all involved a group of children sitting in a circle, talking about what they had learned from the previous week. I think that this intervention is most effective at teaching students who are already motivated to change their behavior. I think it's less effective at teaching students who aren't motivated to change their behavior in the first place. I would improve this intervention approach by making sure that every student has some kind of incentive for behaving well.
