1 Week 1 - Journal Looking Ahead and Expectations It has been an exciting journey through the history of self-awareness to delve into the many facets of psychological ideas this week, such as theories of motivation, leadership, and ethical responsibility. The deep insights I have gotten from this week's lessons have been invaluable as I think on my past, present, and future selves. They act as guideposts on my transforming path. In particular, the extensive literature study on leadership theories has shed light on a rich mosaic of viewpoints that reflects the varied character of psychology as a whole. There is a predestined fate for leaders, according to the Great Man idea, since leadership qualities are intrinsic. To counter this view of leadership as something that is innately present but also something that can be learned, the Trait Theory proposes the concept that leadership traits may be either intrinsic or acquired. Leadership is seen as an outcome of one's own journey, according to behavioral theories that highlight the formative nature of life events. Leadership, according to contingency theories, is all about being flexible and adjusting to different conditions. On the other hand, transactional and transformational theories put an emphasis on the interactive and transformative parts of leadership. This variety of leadership theories reflects the wide range of perspectives found in psychology as a whole. The theoretical variety within psychology highlights the ever-changing character of the field, going beyond the traditional notions of gender and racial diversity. The intricacy and variety of human behavior and leadership dynamics are shown by this.
2 Sigmund Freud's contributions are highlighted by going back to the basic ideas of psychology and seeing how relevant they still are. An essential part of comprehending the complexities of the human mind is Freud's psychoanalytic theory, which is based on the interaction between therapist and patient. Even if our knowledge has grown and evolved since Freud's time, the fundamental ideas of his work about the influence of the unconscious mind on emotions and actions remain unchanged. I have gained a deep awareness and comprehension of people via my path through psychology, which has also provided me with theoretical knowledge. My own beliefs and professional ethics have been greatly influenced by this increased empathy and understanding of varied options. As a result, people are more dedicated than ever to taking responsibility for their actions and holding themselves to the high standards set by the APA and the rest of society. I expect to continue developing both personally and professionally as I make my way through this educational journey. My comprehension of the intricacies of leadership and the human mind is continually being honed by each lesson, experience, and contact. Acquiring this information is more than just a mental workout; it is a springboard to developing into a better person—a professional who can have a significant impact on the field of psychology and on society as a whole.
