Choose one of the developmental theories (i.e., biological, psychoanalytical, cognitive, or social learning) and describe how it might be used to influence the planning and delivery of lesson instructions. In this discussion, I will describe the cognitive development theory and how educators can use it to influence the planning and delivery of lesson instructions. The cognitive development theory explains the growth of a child’s ability to think and reason. During the adolescence stage, occurring between 12 and 18 years, the developing teenager gains the ability to think analytically about all logical relationships within a problem (Visu‐Petra et al., 2022). The transition from concrete thinking to formal logical operations happens over time. Every person advances at his or her rate in developing their ability to think in more complex ways. Each adolescent develops their distinct view of the world. Some adolescents may be able to apply logical operations to school work before they are able to apply them to personal problems. Furthermore based on the cognitive development theory, when emotional issues arise, they can add a supplementary level otontricacy for a teenager's cognitive reasoning (Lind, 2023). The ability to consider prospects, emotions, and facts can influence decision-making in positive or negative ways. Instructors can use the above-discussed explanation of cognitive development to plan and deliver lesson instructions. Precisely, cognitive development can help explain how children process information and learn. Understanding this information can assist instructors to develop more effective teaching approaches. Integrative cognitive analysis also fosters the assessment of internal behaviors, improving the ability to change the anticipated response from the students (Lind, 2023). Educators can therefore apply cognitive development concepts to their instructional approach diligently.
