Observation Paper Rubric Criteria Ethnographic Record Write an ethnographic record of 8-10 hours observation of one child/adolescent OR all 103 videos for the alternate assignment. Developmental Markers Highlight the developmental markers observed and indicate how the observed behaviors fit (or on occasion do not fit) with what was described in the text or class lectures. Relate to Grand Theories A discussion of how what was observed is related to the different grand theories and modern theories presented in the text and discussed in class lectures. This section should include a a discussion of how each of the frameworks would help explain and predict what was observed. You can additionally use information from the text to identify how what was observed matches the child's development levels/phases in the areas of cognition, motor, language, social, and emotional functioning. Developmentally appropriate practice Discuss how developmentally appropriate practices can be applied. If observed one child, then discuss practices that would be appropriate for that child. IF watched the videos, then choose 1 to 2 students and identify developmentally appropriate practices that can be applied to them.
