Research shows that during the stage of infancy secure attachment plays a crucial role in in the aspect of development. It influences their overall psychological well- being. Secure attachment is referred to as a sense of a strong secure bond between the infant and the caregiver., which will form good relationships. Bowlby explains that the infants internal working model of attachment with the caregiver influences the infants and later the child’s subsequent responses to other people (p.452). Establishing a secure bond will serve as a basis for developing effective coping mechanisms for the future. From birth, the interactions of a infant with their primary carers will establish a base for personality development and will mould subsequent close relationships, expectations of social acceptance, and attitudes to rejection (NCBI, 2015). In general, by providing a secure environment and cultivating a trust bond during the infancy stage will have an impact in determining future development and also effectively help them navigate the complexity of the world as they get older.
