My choice for this week's reading is going to be Liberalism. Liberalism is a general term for a set
of theories and philosophies based on principles of inalienable individual rights and liberties. As
with many areas of discussion there are strong and weak points to support ideals. One of the
stong points for Liberalism is getting the world on the same page, working together in various
aspects such as financial and technological advancements. Although it is a benefit it can also be
skewed as a weak point as well due to the potential of causing strife among the poorer countries
getting more than others and trying to wage war on the weaker countries. Recently the way
liberalism influences labor has become a more important topic within the United States. The
Liberal Party believes in a small government with lower taxes and making things as easy as
possible for large and smaller businesses among other benefits. They hold more of a get out and
help yourself rather than us do it for you attitude which can be good for many people and would
also be beneficial to businesses. The Liberal Party believes is higher taxes to fund a larger public
sector allowing basic health, education and other core services to everyone despite the amount of
money they earn. One thing I learned though from my research that no matter how much
thought, planning and good intentions you have you can’t please everyone.
