Powers Denied to the Federal Government There are some powers specifically denied the new federal government being created by this constitution. Examine Article I, Section 9 of the Constitution . There you will find a list of powers denied the new federal government. Four of those powers are outlined below. Write what each item means in the space provided. 1. Article I, Section 9, Clause 2 The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. 2. Article I, Section 9, Clause 3 No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. 3. Article I, Section 9, Clause 5 No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State 4. Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States III. Powers Denied the States Examine Article I, Section 10 of the Constitution . There you will find a list of powers that are denied the States. Read the list. Choose any 5 of the powers denied the States to add to your outline. 1.
