Who is the number one employer in your congressional district? Cut and paste a map of the boundaries of your congressional district. (5 points) I live in Missouri’s 4 th congressional district. Currently, Missouri has 8 congressional districts where majority of them are republican. Missouri’s 4 th congressional district is predominantly rural and mostly conservative while having a population of 84.3% of white people. The number one industry is health care and social assistance. 2. Write a paragraph that includes the following: Who is your member of Congress? What is their gender/race, political party and level of education? What did they do as a career prior to becoming a member of Congress? What committees do they serve on? What congressional caucuses are they a member of? Do they hold a leadership position (House leadership or committee leadership)?

How many terms have they served in the US House of representatives? (6 points) Missouri’s 4 th congressional district representative is Mark Alford. He is a republican white male with only a high school diploma. Before becoming a member of congress, he was a television news journalist. He doesn’t hold any leadership position but serves on agriculture, armed services and small business committees. He is currently serving his first term in congress. Write a paragraph that considers your congressional district in light of your state: When was the last time your congressional district was re-districted? What changes occurred at that time? Did a majority party in the state legislature gerrymander your district and if so, how? Has your state considered using an independent redistricting commission in the future rather than state legislatures? (6.5 points) Missouri completed its last legislative redistricting on March 15 th , 2022, where the district lines were redrawn. I think a majority party gerrymandered the district because Missouri already has 6 republicans and only 2 democrats and the 4 th district has a lot of democrats, so I think the lines were drawn to favor republicans. Missouri has a passed by legislature with gubernatorial approval and has not considered moving to independent redistricting commission.
