The Palestine-Israel conflict is intricate due to the integration of religious and
political factors. The dispute dates back to the 1940s following the Al Nakba and has existed
up to date, as evidenced by the Gaza crisis. Gaza is made up of Palestinian refugees whom
Israel controls to retain control of the Jewish state.
Israel is at war with Gaza following the
Al-
Aqsa flood by the Hamas on October 7th. Being the most destructive attack the Israelites have
ever dealt with, their response has been extensive, leading to massive destruction and deaths.
Israel's response could be perceived as a kind of genocide as although the war should be
against Hamas; their acts seem to rid Gaza Palestinians. Despite the escalation of the war, the
West has been behind Israel, justifying its actions and the need to eliminate the terrorist group.
However, it has been difficult for the West to intervene in the Gaza war due to the ingrained
Islamophobia effects in the region.
Following the 9/11 terror, the Western region perceives the Islam groups as terrorists,
hence the reluctance to stop Israel from destroying Gaza and accusing Hamas of making the
initial step to eliminate Israelists. The Western considers the continuing Gaza attack as a way
of self-defense. The Western states condemned the pro-Palestine move to initiate the war,
relating the event to 9/11 and, hence, the need to free Gaza from the terrorist group. Various
initial activities to mitigate the conflict, including the Oslo talks, have been futile. Most of the
Western nations seem to support Israel's actions, and the pro-Palestinians are not ready to lay
back. Hence, Islamophobia has been the major trigger to the lack of Western intervention in
the Gaza war, leading to global issues.
There has been implied bias among the Western nations considering the ongoing war.
For instance, most of the Western coverages seem to favor Israel and dehumanize the residents
in Gaza. Despite Hamas being the first to attack to rescue Palestine hostages in Israel, which
led to approximately 1400 deaths, Israel has been more brutal in its response, shooting the
healthcare sector and killing more than 10000 persons (Nashed, 2023). Despite the evidence of
Israel's brutality, the Western nations still support the attacks by Israel to the extent of offering
support portraying the ingrained bias that could prevent the possibility of ending the war.
For
instance, the US president stated that Hamas's initial move could be termed as "an act of sheer
evil." Hence, the Israelites are authorized in self-defense to incapacitate the organization. Also,
DeSantis, in his Tweet, stated, "Israel, with the full support if the United States, should kill Hamas
members and extinguish their entire infrastructure" (Reuters).
Therefore
, the declared Israel
support by the US ignites mixed reactions as it worsens the war instead of mitigating it
(Nashed, 2023). The US president announced that he would support the Israelis, which implied
the possibility of a broader conflict. Also, comparing the 9/11 terror attack to the massacre in
Israel by the US president portrays America's long-held grudge against the Islamic
organization Hamas, hence its decision to support Israel with ammunition (Masih et al., 2023).
The Republicans motivate the Israelists to completely eradicate the terrorist group, stating they
deserve the destruction. Marco says that when it comes to attacks, there is no need to act
proportionately as the country deals with enemies. This seems to justify the extensive force
utilized by Israel in Gaza (Matt Berg). Moreover, EU officials are battling Islamophobia in the
European regions. Despite the raging war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, most of the Jews
and Muslims in the European areas are experiencing discrimination and hatred. Most of the EU
nations consider Muslims as violent and segregate them economically and socially.
This hatred
persists even in a movement of crisis. For example, the Republican candidates seem to be
comfortable with Israel's efforts and motivate them to get rid of the group. Still, none considers
the underlying repercussions on the Gaza Palestinians. Also, none of them push for
humanitarian relief for displaced and injured persons (Maegan Vazquez)(Shankar, 2023).
This
implies an ingrained hatred for these groups despite not being part of the terror. With that in
mind, a common bias from Americans generalizes all Muslims as terrorists, which leads to
increased public discrimination (Clay, 2017). The US response to the Gaza war portrays the
prolonged conflict and hatred for the Muslims and offers to support the Israelites to do away
with Hamas, who they have confidence they are part of a terrorist group.
Research indicates that one month after the Hamas attack, antisemitic cases have doubled, with
increased instances of harassment, destruction, and violence among Jews residing in America.
Also, CAIR reports on a surge in bigotry (Yang, 2023). Thus, not only Jews in Gaza are
experiencing trauma, but also Jews in different parts of the Western nations. For example,
the
US college students portrayed mixed reactions towards the war, with some protesting for Hamas
and others against it. The Republican candidates have threatened to castigate any student
displaying support for Hamas or seem to criticize Israel's actions through visa revocation (Emma
Nicholson). The act of depriving the student's right to freely decide on who to support,
considering Hamas and Israel's actions or their nationalities, the US aims at spreading their
hatred to innocent persons.
The hate is further intensified by biased media reporting, public
perception on social media, and the intensification of the war and incitation (Farivar, 2023).
This implies that although the Arabs in Gaza are facing brutality and oppression, instead of the
Western nations providing a solution and shoulder to lean on for them, they are extending
hatred to Islamic groups not only in the scene but outside Gaza. The war seems to be taking a
new twist, which could devastate the Palestinians and Muslims more. Therefore, Islamophobia
is the primary factor that has made it difficult for the Gaza war to be resolved, as people on
different platforms physically extend hatred to Muslims and Palestinians in other parts instead

of protecting them during this period they are oppressed.
In addition, despite the campaign to stop the war for humanitarian purposes, some EU
members and the US were against the mov
e.
The US advocates that stopping the war is critical
to enhance humanitarian but states that a ceasefire is unnecessary and should not be established
until Hamas is eliminated. However, pausing for a while and returning to war could only have
a limited impact on the victims and worsen the situation (Harb, 2023).
Putting a pause intensifies Palestinian oppression, considering their maltreatment since the
1940s during the establishment of Israel and the continuous displacement from the region.
This is because the truce will only be necessary for providing needed help to the Gaza
residents, including the protection of humanitarian workers, media persons, and healthcare
providers for a short period before the war resumes. Currently, an estimated 14500 residents
in Gaza have been murdered as a response to the death of an estimated 1200 residents in
Israel (Harb, 2023). Israel has held hostage thousands of Palestine, including children,
without valid claims.
After the truce, Okail stated that there should be a stop to civilian
hostages, punishment, and bombing and only target the enemy to protect innocent persons
(Harb).
However, despite the escalating war in Gaza, most of the pro-Palestinians aim at
the elimination of the Jewish state, worsening the battle. In an interview, Nathan stated that
the state should be nonexistent, citing the issue of the besieged territory and thousands of
civilian casualties. However, the US is staunch on its decision and states that the Israelis
should utilize this opportunity to silence Hamas (Maria Lenki) (Scheffer, 2023). Also, a
n
intelligence officer from the US purports that Hamas' acts were meant to show the Israelis
their potential to be destructive to persuade them to free over 100 hostages. Therefore, the
ambush could have a long-lasting effect, and if Israel fails to take the necessary actions to
silence the groups, it could present long-standing pacts in the future. This is because the
Hamas could cause more destruction for political purposes (Chuck). However, the US
utilizes Hama's actions as proof of their long-standing belief that Islam and Palestine pose a
threat to society and affect their ability to sympathize with the Gaza victims.
Hence, hatred
against the Arabs has been a primary barrier to the mitigation of the Gaza war.
The Gaza war not only affects the parties involved but also could trigger adverse
global issues. For instance, the World Bank report indicates a possibility of economic
"shock" worldwide following the war. These effects and the Ukrainian impact on the
economy would adversely affect the global economy. This could lead to food and oil prices
surging, further worsening people's living standards and widening the existing disparities
(Wright, 2023). Also, the war could potentially affect the US military due to military conflict
concerning the deployment of its forces to vulnerable regions. This is because they could
have their targets despite being deployed to enhance security, worsening the war and
military stability. The war could also challenge the democracy of the US and other Western
nations. There has been increased Islamophobia in different regions affecting Palestinians
(Wright, 2023). Jews in the US attract increased hatred and harassment due to the
stereotypes in society perceiving them as terrorists. These acts, in turn, challenge the efforts
to enhance equality and mitigate discrimination. The war also worsens the global
humanitarian crisis as most of the residents in Gaza get evicted, healthcare facilities get
damaged, and the need for basic needs increases for the casualties. The war will also likely
trigger diplomatic action as different organizations push for a ceasefire to end the conflict
despite Western efforts to support the fight (Wright, 2023). In addition, the war could lead to
political instability in the nearby nations as they are directly affected by the widening
conflict. Also, the biased media coverage affects the global view of the war, leading to
different conclusions and analyses. Hence, the effects of the war are numerous in other
countries and the world at large due to the increased humanitarian crisis, the surge in product
prices affecting the global economy, diplomatic issues, political instability, and military
vulnerability, among others.
The reluctance of the West to intervene in the Gaza war is mainly attributed to
the ingrained Islamophobia. The US associated the Hamas attack with the 9/11 attack,
establishing a basis for their unwavering support for the Israelis to eliminate the group, arguing
it is a terrorist organization. Since the Hamas attack, there have been increased Islamophobia
incidents where Jews in the US and other Western regions get harassed, discriminated and
killed. Therefore, not only Arabs in Gaza are affected by the war but in different areas.
Different organizations have tried to mitigate the war through ceasefire in vain as the US and
some members of the EU have been opposing the move, arguing that Hamas, being a terrorist
group, should be eliminated and that only pulses are adequate to offer aid to the affected
groups. The Republicans motivate the Israelites to get rid of the Hamas to avoid future attacks
altogether. They argue that there is no disproportionate force when a country is dealing with an
enemy; hence, the force utilized in Gaza is justified. The Islamopjonia is evident as students in the
US are threatened with possible visa revocation if caught in support of the Hamas group. The war
has global effects, including worsening the humanitarian crisis, political instability for nearby
nations, military vulnerability, diplomatic action, and economic instability. Thus, the nations
must come to a consensus on how to mitigate the war to prevent it from resulting in significant
global impacts.
