Full Title of Your Paper: Assignment 4 – GC & E Inequity Natesh Jenovathas Centennial College PFPR 104: Principal of Ethics Reasoning Professor: Christopher Gordon November 6, 2022
1. Identify and describe an issue of inequity that you have observed while at placement, volunteering somewhere or placement of employment in the field. (worth 3 marks) My grandma broke her hip and had Alzheimer's disease. We decided to put her in a nursing home since we lacked the staff or means to take care of her all day. In one of the nursing homes, we tried to put her on the waiting list, but they rejected us because they only accepted catholic religious seniors. 2. State on all three levels , one way that this issue can be challenged at on a (a) personal level (worth 2 marks), (b) professional level (worth 2 marks) and (c) global level (worth 2 marks). (worth 6 marks in total) a) You should never judge others based on my own perceptions and by their appearance. Everybody deserves to be respected and no is superior or inferior anyone. All of us should be treated with equality. b) We weren't treated fairly, and it wasn't professional. They failed us professionally and discriminated against us based on our religion, which was unethical from a professional standpoint. c) In Ontario, nursing homes are funded by the government. Since it is a government- funded organization, so it shouldn't violate human rights. It is taxpayer's money, and
everybody should be treated equally not based on religion. This applies not just to Ontario but to the rest of the world. 3. What would be two possible impacts on society if this issue becomes obsolete (meaning gone from society, no longer an issue of inequity)? You must describe this in detail in order to get full marks. (worth 4 marks) There won't be any more racial discrimination, which is one effect on society. There won't be any more racial profiling, no more skin color discrimination, and no more black people dying as a result. Everyone will be treated equally. No one will refer to a black man as a black man or a white man as a white man, and no one will notice the color difference. The second reason, everyone will be more accepting of religion. For instance, the nursing home turned us away because we are not Catholic, but that won't happen anymore because they now welcome all religions. Also, there will be fewer problems at institutions because of religion. We will all be exposed to different religious points of view. Religion won't become an issue anymore. There won't be people thinking that this religion is superior and another religion inferior.
