Argument how did you strengthen the argument? Not the topic, but the argument you were
making.
We learned about the C.R.A.A.P.O. test, annotating sources, and the writing plan in module 3. We
submitted our writing plan to the discussion post to receive feedback. I received feedback from Professor
Medley stating I had too many key points, and from William Dickinson stating I needed more statistical
data and evidence to support my argument. He even attached a source that I was able to use in my
research paper. I went back to using C.R.A.A.P.O. test and found better sources and from there I was able
to narrow my key points down to 3.
Exploration of the issue. Think about expanding the content to fully support the argument.
I started out with 5 key points; I used Professor medleys advice and narrowed my key points down to 3. I
took advice from William and added in history about alcohol and marijuana. I received a peer review
from Jessie Smith advising parts of my arguments were confusing. He didn’t understand if it was going to
increase tax revenue or decrease. When I went back to redo my key points, I decided not to incorporate
the tax information because I could not find enough research.
Effective Source integration. Think about how you used research to support your claims.
William suggested that I used more statistical data on how marijuana is proven to be safer than alcohol. I
was able to go back and find more statistical data to validate the claims I made in my thesis statement. I
was able to find information through the Shapiro library on the history of alcohol as William suggested.
Writing strategies refer to specific strategies.
Professor Medley and William gave me great feedback that I was able to use. Finding sources was the
problem I had once I was able to find credible sources using the Shapiro library. I used mind mapping to
put my research paper in order and I used that information to do my writing plan. In the future, I will be
reaching out to my peers for feedback.
