A Research Question, Thesis, and Outline Student: Priscilla Hall English Comp II
Research Question: Should the government make abortion a legal act? Thesis statement: Abortion should not be legalized by the government because it is against the fundamental rights of life, and its legalization will cause a lot of fetuses to lose their lives. Outline: 1. Introduction Working thesis in the introduction: Abortion should not be legalized by the government because it is against the fundamental rights of life, and its legalization will cause a lot of fetuses to lose their lives. The reason why women carry out an abortion: Some women carry out abortion because it was an unwanted or unintended pregnancy, while others do so to rescue their own lives, which are sometimes put at risk by the pregnancy. The reason why the government should not legalize abortion: Abortion should not be legalized by the government because it is against the fundamental rights of life, and its legalization will cause a lot of fetuses to lose their lives. 2. Body a) Risks involved in abortion There are some circumstances where the aborting woman can over- bleed if the abortion is not properly carried out. Abortion can lead to the death of both the mother and the fetus if not done by an expert and experienced doctor.
Abortion inflicts a lot of suffering and pain on the mothers or women involved. b) Illegal killing Biologically, a fetus is a living thing or organism and is perceived as a human being. When aborted, there is a life of a human being that has been terminated, which can be termed murder. It is not prudent to end the life of a fetus because it has most of the human body parts, including the heart, and it can breathe. Any creature that has a heart and can breathe is referred to as a living thing, and terminating its life is a form of murder. c) Abortion is against moral ethics and religion. Ethical principles of wrong and right do not support the whole idea of abortion as it is a form of murder or killing. In terms of religion, killing a human being (fetus being included) is wrong, and in some religions, it is considered a sin. The unborn are innocent and sinless before God, and therefore, they should not be made to undergo the pain of being killed in the name of abortion. Parents, especially mothers, should take full responsibility for their wrong choices and decisions instead of making the unborn pay with their lives. d) Counterarguments

Sometimes, making abortion legal is of great importance, especially for women who are at risk of losing their lives if abortion is not done. According to science, the fetus is just but a living cell that cannot think, make decisions, or reason on its own. It is through abortion that children with abnormalities that might cause a lifetime deformation are done away with. If left to be born, this child with deformations can end up being a financial burden to the parents. 3. Conclusion In conclusion, killing the unborn baby or fetus in the name of abortion is against moral ethics and should not be allowed. Parents should take responsibility for their wrong decisions and choices and stop killing innocent creatures. No one is allowed or should be allowed to terminate the future of the unborn baby.
