Week 4 discussion:
Deductive argument a type of logic in which we go from general statement to a specific instance very fast. It is when we assume things to be true and draw conclusions that we think are true (Facione and Gittens, 2016). The example of deductive reasoning is that a college academic book
states that everyone being admitted to the college will have to take a placement test in English, Math and Comprehensive. I would say it is a fact because the placement test checks our strengths
and knowledge and assess us if we need any of additional education. The premises is valid because the rule is printed in the catalogue, and it also pass the test of validity and strength. Inductive argument is an assertion that uses specific premises or observation to make a broader generalization. The example of inductive argument, determining when to leave for work based on traffic patterns. This is a perfect example, because it gives a broad scenario to look at before deciding and yet it could change a lot of things while you are on the road. Facione, P., & Gittens, C. A. (2016).
