Pick out 10 stickers that are "yours". Kid gets to decide how many stickers to keep and
to give away to the other kids. Can give away as many stickers as you want, but you

The amount of sharing was linked to age, the older they were, the older they shared.
Pattern of sharing is fairly similar across cultures.
The most common response was to share 5 stickers, then it was 4 stickers, it then
dropped to 0.
3.
What are some important influences discussed in the lecture that seem relevant to accounting
for the effects found by Samek et al. 2020?
Some important influences discussed in the lecture are that there are no systematic
differences between individualistic and collectivist countries. Across this age range
children became able to engage in perspective taking. They are interested in appearing
fair to others, understand what it is like to be treated unfairly, and value equality. The
greater sharing with age may also be due to decreasing salience of the rewards, namely
older children not as interested in the stickers, resulting in increased giving. The cost is
lower when giving away a less desirable resource.
4.

All children played 3 versions with candies as the commodity. Children were given 4
candies, but they could not keep any for themselves. They have to distribute the
candies to one or both of two recipients who were gender and age-matches. The
recipients differed across the 3 versions on: amount of candy they currently had. work
ethic, and whether they were physically injured.

the younger the more likely to give to someone who is injured.
