Journal Week 8
In my week 1 journal I said that critical thinking occurs with experiences gained in life, knowledge, IQ, and thinking outside the box. Critical thinking occurs when a problem is given, and you are trying to solve it using the components mentioned above. After studying critical thinking for the past eight weeks, I think my definition was correct. It is just missing the fact that
critical thinking does not always have to have a problem associated with it. We can critically think about many different situations and scenarios. Certain topics are important for critical thinking because they occur in different stages. Ethics is vital in forming a good argument because it ensures fairness, honesty, and moral
principles. Ethics also contributes to the credibility and validity of an argument. Ethics also considers the wellbeing of others. An argument has two sides. Ethics makes sure that there are no
biases in the argument. Ethics is a framework for any argument. If an argument is ethically wrong, no one will support it. Learning to think critically is a lifelong task. As you gain experiences, your viewpoint may change. This can alter the way you think critically. One is always refining the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information. As we think critically, we get better at it. It also contributes
to our intellectual growth.
