Elide Oyanedel Ethics & Principles Corporate Work Culture. Loreal is a Paris based beauty and personal care brand that was founded in the 1990’s, since its founding L’Oreal has seen a significant Loreal as six values clearly listed with a goal to be open to new trends and ideas from around the world in order to be a pioneer in the business. Passion for what cosmetics can bring to women and men: well-being, self-confidence, an openness towards others. Passion also for a business which is intrinsically linked to humanity and culture. Because creating beauty products and services means seeking to understand others, knowing how to listen to them, apprehending their traditions, anticipating their needs. This passion is what makes the L’Oréal adventure so fascinating. Innovation is also one of our founding values and the name of the game in our business. We always have in mind the fact that our company was founded by a scientist. Innovation is essential because beauty is an endless quest that constantly requires a higher level of performance. At L’Oréal, it is vital. Always wanting to push back the limit of knowledge means discovering new ways to create products and services that are truly different and surprising. To always stay one step ahead. Because there is no innovation without daring, without taking initiatives, L’Oréal has always given priority to the individual rather than to processes. Entrepreneurial spirit a synonym for autonomy, challenge, and adventure, has always been encouraged and embodied in a specific management style. Today it is still the driving force behind a Group built above all on a belief of the importance of each individual and their talents.
Elide Oyanedel Ethics & Principles Open-mindedness Listening to consumers and understanding their culture, being open to others and benefiting from their differences are absolute priorities in order to respond to the infinite diversity of beauty aspirations around the world. They are inseparable from our business and our mission. Quest for Excellence These four values are inextricably related to our fifth value, the Quest for Excellence. A value that permeates every aspect of our business, in every country and that is expressed in a state of mind and a constant pursuit of doing better. We all share this desire to surpass ourselves to be able to provide the best for our consumers. Responsibility Finally, whether the Group is innovating or showing its entrepreneurial spirit, it has always done so with a sense for Responsibility. L’Oréal's first invention, the “safe hair dye” was already an expression of this fundamental concern for effective, safe and innocuous products. But our sense of responsibility goes far beyond that. As a world leader in beauty, we have, more than others, the duty to protect the beauty of the planet and to contribute to the well-being of our employees and of the communities with which we engage. Along with their values L’Oreal as also include their ethical principles online which include the code of ethics along with other policies and standards. Having policies in place is a great star in order to foster an ethical workplace. But without any set plan and enforcement it is almost pointless. My first step to set a plan for creating an ethical workplace old be to set in place an ethics committee in each corporate office. The ethics committee would be made up of one or two employees from each department in the office. This
Elide Oyanedel Ethics & Principles committee will follow the already in place. Ethics committee members must have been in the company for at least six months and be well versed in the existing policies. The ethics committee would meet once a month to discuss any issues and set initiatives for training overall company wellness events. Along with the Human Resources department the ethics committee would be responsible for calling out any ethical issues they witness and bringing it to Human Resources for further evaluation. In order to assess the success f the ethics committee Human Resources should communicate any issues brough up to the committee along with keep them on track to meet every month. Another measure of success would be planning the company events and send out surveys after each event. Public Ethical Issues L’Oreal saw great success and growth, but this did not come without ethical issues. L’Oreal used Mica in their products which was obtained in unethical practices that included child labor who work in unacceptable conditions risking their lives and health. Mica is largely used in the cosmetics world to achieve shimmer and sheen in makeup products such as eyeshadows, blush and lip glosses. In 2017 L’Oréal with other major brands formed the Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) this is a nongovernmental organization with a mission to correct the illegal and unacceptable work conditions on the mining of Mica with a goal of 2030 (Sine, 2022).

Elide Oyanedel Ethics & Principles not attending schools and long work hours. This is. major ethical issue for any company in the beauty industry deals with. It is not enough to just stop using Mica in L’Oréal Products must be leaders in the movement and set up resources for children in mica mines in order to get them to attend school and meet basic needs. It is important that each employee understands the harms of using mica in our products and how we need to bring awareness for companies to stop using it. A PowerPoint on the use of the harms of Mica and how we have helped to reduce the usage, In an effort to inform consumers L’Oreal should roll out a campaign where they inform the public of their initiatives and alternative products to replace mica.
