Williams 1 Jewel Williams HDFS 2313 Professor Kelly 20 July 2023 Polygamy by Andy Cazier Dating can be done in a number of ways for polygamous couples. A man or woman may wish to have two or more husbands or wives at the outset of the relationship, a couple may wish to expand their union, or a group of adults may simply decide to engage in polygamy. Numerous polygamous couples engage in pre-marital sex despite the fact that many cultures do not condone it. In our society, polygamy is practiced by a large portion of the wealthy. The head of the relationship is frequently the one with the most wealth. It is typically the man, though occasionally it may also be a woman. Because it is against the law to marry more than one person in the US, no license is needed. Although it is typical for couples to be at least 18 years old, this rule is not universal. Some nations, including Ghana, Iran, and Cambodia permit polygamous unions. In each relationship, the parents' roles do change. As opposed to others, some parents engage their kids actively. Since the couple is not married, most of the time there are no children involved to avoid potential legal problems. Interracial by Vivien Henry Modern dating in America is very similar to interracial courtship. After becoming friends
Williams 2 first, two people start to like one another before deciding to get together for a date. Couples spend their time getting to know one another while they are dating by going to the movies, an arcade, vacation destinations, church, picnics, movie nights, etc. The main distinction for mixed- race couples is that some people are not very accepting of their relationship, which leads to minor issues. Some people hold the view that people should only date members of their own race, which is problematic for interracial couples. Numerous interracial couples encounter dating difficulties like microaggressions and racial profiling as a result of these people's beliefs. Unexpectedly, it wasn't until 1967 that interracial unions became fully legal. Mildred and Richard Loving were one of the first mixed-race marriages. For their relationship and marriage, this couple battled for years. They had to overcome many obstacles before being permitted to wed on July 12, 1967, thanks to a decision by the supreme court. Many people have different interracial marriage traditions based on their ethnicity and religious beliefs. Even after they have been married and raised their own families, many couples still encounter hostility and condemnation. Numerous biracial children encounter racism and hostility from their peers and parents. Interracial couples divorce less frequently than those of the same race, despite all the prejudice. Mormon by Ethan Wesloski When a young adult, male or female, turns 16, according to the Mormon religion, they "ought to start dating.". This is because they think that young adults should learn the importance of appreciating other people, understanding their values, and putting those needs ahead of their own. Although it is a common misconception that Mormons do not engage in premarital sexual behavior, which includes passionate kissing, there are no specific rules, if you will, regarding
Williams 3 kissing. The Mormon faith can influence society but society cannot really affect the faith because of how closely it relates to a traditional Christian faith. To maintain the purity of the religion, dating among members of the same faith has long been a Mormon tradition. Now that the partner is a believer in the Lord, dating outside the faith is not forbidden. Because of practices like polygamy that have been outlawed for more than a century, society tends to have a negative perception of Mormons. Same-Sex Marriage by Jordan Griffin In every U.S. state, same-sex couples are permitted to wed. S. states and get both federal and state benefits. Several states also allow for civil unions or domestic partnerships, which grant all or some of the rights and obligations of marriage at the state level. Even though more than 30 states have constitutional limitations on marriage, all states are required by law to recognize same-sex unions. A decision by the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges. As a result, it is unconstitutional and impossible to enforce any laws that limit marriage to one man and one woman. LGBT parenting, also known as non-biological or biological parenting, refers to the raising of one or more children by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. The options available to same-sex male couples include foster care, various domestic and international adoption methods, and various surrogacy procedures whether traditional or gestational and kinship arrangements, in which they might co-parent with a woman or women they are close to but not sexually involved.

Williams 4 Carribian Deja Shaw-Huckaby If you compare it to American culture, Caribbean culture is much more risqué. Every year, they have festivals where people dress in what some Americans might consider very young, very revealing clothing, but it is not frowned upon because it is a part of their culture. Additionally, dancing is very important in their culture, and they dance closely but not in a romantic way, which is a significant cultural difference between American culture and Caribbean culture. The bride's father usually foots the bill for the weddings, which are frequently attended by members of the community and families. Long, flowing gowns, tuxedos, and short, tight dresses are the typical wedding attire. Jerk chicken and curry chicken are two very well-liked dishes in the Caribbean, and food at Caribbean weddings is typically prepared by the family. Because Christianity is the most common religion in the Caribbean, men are regarded as the head of the home, and wives are expected to submit to their husbands. Personal Responsibility I grew up in a Christian home where I was always encouraged to start a family by dating a Christian church boy. I still haven't found the ideal Christian man for me after numerous failed relationships. I do believe that those connections were just not meant to be. Hopefully the right man will confess to me like the Japanese couples do. After watching a lot of the Pecha Kuchas, I realized that I might be approaching and viewing relationships superficially. Maybe I need to adjust my viewpoint so that I see relationships more romantically rather than as a duty. I find a lot of the relationships listed above to be quite unusual. I don't think I could ever be in a polygamous relationship because I am very possessive of my partner. That is definitely
Williams 5 not the case. My only worry is that if our marriage doesn't work out, I won't be able to get a divorce, especially if I need to. I once had a relationship with a person of a different race, but I had to end it because my ex's parents disapproved. I haven't dated anyone outside my race since they believed we should only date people of our own race. I dated mostly black men as a result of this, but the black community is starting to lose its perception of long-term relationships. This makes me sad, but it also motivates me to have a happy, fulfilling black relationship in order to support the idea of lifelong commitments returning to our community. We can only hope that with time, that ideal will grow stronger.
