According to ("Wisdom of Absolutes," 2020), there is wisdom in thinking of morality as objective and universal. Christians believe character is absolute and right because it holds their morals of right and wrong by the moral standards acceptable from God. Christians are not control by personal opinions when representing the word of God through scripture and truth. Christian's ethical standards come from
God. Without God, there are no absolute and objective truths of morality and spirituality truth of God's word ("Wisdom of Absolutes," 2020). Christians moral rule God is the giver of truth.
The worldview element that is the most significant factor for determining right and wrong in this situation will be what is human purpose. God's creation of humankind is design with a purpose, according to Hiles and Smith (2014). The practical test is real-life situations that challenge Ruth's beliefs and causes her to reconsider ("Understanding Worldview," 2020). In Proverbs 3:5-3 (English Standard Version, 2001),
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Christian worldview understands humanity as a creation by God in his own product image and a great value to earth. Christian worldview views abortion as a matter of morality decision. Moral laws are given
under special revelation to humankind through scripture from God's own words ("Understanding Worldview," 2020). Life begins at conception; therefore, it is not morally correct to take the life of an innocent human being. Taking a life is one of the ten commandments. Exodus 23:7, Have nothing to do with a false charge, and do not put an innocent or honest person to death. From a Christian point of view, I would tell Ruth to have faith in the word of God. Leading her to three passages that will give her knowledge that God's strength is made perfect in her weakness. 2 Corinthians
12:9 My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Samuel 22:33 it is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure, and Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you
wherever you go.
Christians believe in loving and having compassion for all humankind (Grand Canyon University, 2020). I am not sure Christians can resolve the issue as much as they can give prayer and guidance. In providing advice would be to provide counsel. This counsel would be to have the person considering abortion consider the morality of their decision. The ten commandments are a great start to remind Ruth to see the commandments as windows to see God's character and a reminder to see herself the same but in need of a savior to help bring out strength she never thought she had.
The Christian resolution to abortion to increase human dignity and human value is to use the same foundation of principles affirmed through faith in what God's word says about Ruth. As a Christian, it is crucial to help Ruth to understand the nature of what God's words say about her under challenging trials
in her life. The Christian world view is not immune to criticism when it comes to others' judgments (Obstacles to Wisdom, 2020).
Flourishing is obtained through salvation imparted to humankind by God's Holy Spirit. Through salvation, God is glorified when God's creation (humanity) flourishes (Grand Canyon University, 2020). For Ruth to flourish, she has to revive her soul, make wise decisions, and rejoice no matter the circumstance. To thrive, Ruth, like Christians, must live according to God's law.
What may be challenging for people to accept in Ruth's situation is seeing the benefits of God's glory when making the right decision when facing the challenges ahead. However, Ruth's unintended consequences can be a challenge for her as well. Making the wrong decision can lead to ungodly behavior that can make her feel unforgiving for her decision to choose abortion. Ruth could feel she has not earn forgiveness that can have her in the wilderness for years.
Christians and ordinary people can first pray for Ruth and others that God will give them discernment in deciding to terminate a pregnancy. Without judging providing support by having compassion and love for that person. Being able to provide that person with the counsel they may need to make a challenging
decision. Constantly reminding that person no matter what decision they make, God will forgive them if they repent and never repeat the same thing or have the same thoughts. Most important is to let the person know that you will be there the best you can to help as much as you can.
