Jessica Neubert Personal Philosophy 1/22/23 We now live in a world of technology and global communication, which presents educa- tors with a wealth of innovative and engaging opportunities to fulfill the needs of their students
as well as new obstacles related to the successful integration of technology into the classroom. Technology has been demonstrated to better benefit children particularly those who have disabil- ities whose technology can help them grasp the world better and led to a richer comprehension of school ideas. It is the professional duty of educators to get students ready for the technological environment that permeates practically every part of their existence. With various forms of tech- nology that will allow them to differentiate education to best meet the requirements of individual students, teachers should be utilizing technology to create a good learning environment for all kids (Lynch, M). As teachers for Christ, we also bear the additional duty of pointing our students toward the teachings of Christ and assisting them in developing a more thorough comprehension of the gospels. Proverbs 2:6 says, "For the Lord gives wisdom; knowledge and understanding come from his mouth." One tool that can be used to assist students in receiving wisdom from God and disseminating it globally is technology.Students who use technology to get a well- rounded education and an understanding of God's word will benefit long after they leave our classrooms. When it comes to the welfare of our kids, we as educators are held to high standards, and it is our duty to teach them not only the current standards of material but also the modern tech- nology that they will require to succeed in the digital world we inhabit. To teach the "whole child" and guide them with a knowledge of Christ is our responsibility as Christian educators. In the classroom, technology is used for many purposes, including preparing students for the world in which they will need to function as valuable members of society, assisting students who re- quire extra assistance, and providing resources for learning about cultures other than our own. Creating and disseminating lesson plans and learning materials, developing and grading tests, ap- plying theory to classroom instruction, and fostering parent-teacher and student communication
are just a few of the activities that technology assists educators with (Lynch, M). With the aid of these assignments, we assist our students in becoming the world's future leaders—a biblical man- date that requires us to mold them into the best versions of ourselves and Christ-like servants. Luke 12:48 states, " ..... from everyone who has been given much shall much be required ...... " (Heeren, J.). From a professional and biblical standpoint, teaching entails a tremendous deal of duty. We must serve our students to the best of our abilities and allow God to guide our hearts. I have embraced the challenge of teaching my kids in my classroom the value of being re- sponsible digital citizens in addition to being excellent citizens. Teaching social studies involves teaching students about their place in the world and how to be good citizens. This includes teach- ing them how to use technology responsibly. One topic I frequently bring up with students is the fact that once something is posted online, it cannot be taken down. Even though it's not a re- quired topic for my classroom, I believe that students should be aware of the harm that technol- ogy can cause, since they frequently fail to recognize its potential for both good and bad. Stu- dents and I were just talking about the Cold War and how charges made during the Red Scare might destroy a person's life regardless of whether there was proof they were a Communist spy or not. I took advantage of the occasion to talk about how things that are shared online, particu- larly cases of cyberbullying, may destroy people's lives and remain there indefinitely regardless of their veracity. Although there are many amazing and beneficial things that technology has brought to school, there are drawbacks as well. As a Christian educator, it is my duty to assist pupils in understanding the negative and the consequences of their acts. Luke 6:31 asks us to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Heeren, J.)
