review:
Reciprocity: This is the desire? obligation to want to return a favor received back by the giver, this feeling comes from instinct
Scarcity: is the desire to want more of an item with less availability.
Authority: Is the idea that people would always follow the lead or instructions
of an expert or someone in high public standing
Consistency: People would desire to remain consistent with already standing behavior or pattern to maintain a reputation for being consistent in their way
of life.
Consensus: People would look at the attitude and behaviors of others to make their own decision
Social Proof:
This phenomenon occurs when people copy the actions performed by others.
If we're not sure about doing something, we're likely to see what others are doing and replicate those actions.
This can also be applied to the social engineer. Social proof can be used with surveys, phishing emails, vishing calls, etc. For example, if a scammer calls you saying there was a problem with your bank account and needs your personal information to fix it, and also tells you that many customers have
been affected, but they already provided that information and now they are fine. . .You probably provide what they ask for because others have already done it.
Authority:
Authority social engineering attacks occur when an attacker takes on the appearance of police officer, government official, or another authoritative figure in order to convince their target to disclose sensitive information or take an action they would normally refuse to. They may use intimidation or threats as tactics in order to create a sense of urgency amongst their demands and convince their targets that compliance must occur as quickly as possible.
An authority social engineering attack can have lasting repercussions for those who fall prey to it, from financial losses and identity theft to physical harm and even death. Authority social engineering attacks have the power to
ruin lives by leading them down paths that cause them to lose savings, damage their reputation or become the victims of violent crime.
To guard against authority social engineering attacks, it's crucial to stay aware of the tactics being employed by attackers and recognize their influence. Here are some ways you can recognize authority social engineering attacks and safeguard yourself:
Be wary of uninvited phone calls or emails. Verify the identity of anyone contacting you before providing any sensitive data or taking actions that
require further steps.
Keep an eye out for requests that require swift action, especially those from authority figures or government entities. Take time to verify the legitimacy of any requests before taking any drastic measures.
Verify the identity of anyone claiming to be an authority figure before complying with their requests. Ask them for identification documentation such as their badge or ID number and check it with their organization before complying.
By being aware and recognizing the signs of authority social engineering attacks, you can safeguard both yourself and your organization against being
compromised by these types of scams.
Scarcity: Since the creation of this world, there were periods of time "...in which the necessary priesthood authority, ordinances, and doctrinal knowledge [were] found on the earth to implement the Father's plan of salvation for His children." (Dispensations by Elder David A. Bednar) Nevertheless, in such blessed periods, people rebelled and chose to live contrary to God's commandments. As result, periods of spiritual darkness started.
Scarcity allows any item to increase in value because that item becomes less
available. The same happened in times of apostasy because people started to seek light, even the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Commitment and Consistency: People prefer to be consistent with their previous actions and commitments. This means that once an individual has made a choice or take public stand on an issue, they are more likely to follow through with that choice or stand in the future.
In Society, inconsistency is seen as a sign of weakness or lack of conviction. Therefore, individuals will often go to great lengths to maintain consistency with their previous choices and actions.
In terms of gospel teaching, the principle of commitment and consistency can be applied to the importance of keeping promises and staying true to one’s values and beliefs (as well as their covenants). By making a commitment to live a certain way and stay on the true path!

This Principle suggest that people are more likely to say yes to those they like or who are like them. For example, a salesperson who share a common interest with a potential customer is more likely to make a sale. Similarly, an individual is more likely to accept a job offer if they like the hiring manager.
In what ways have you seen this principle in your own personal life?
Reciprocity:
This principle suggest that people feel obligated to give back to others who have given to them first. For example, a person who receives a free sample of a. product is more likely to buy it later on Similarly, if someone does a favor for us, we are more likely to do a favor for them in return.
This principle is a prove, that not all these principles are as bad! This is something that prophets and apostles, encourage us to do more. Given others of what we have, and to give service. Although as good saints we should not be expecting something in return for our acts but do it out of our goodwill and loving desire emulating the example of our lord Jesus Christ.
Understanding these influences can help individuals recognize and combat social Engineering attacks. By recognizing how these principles can be used to manipulate behavior, individuals can make informed decisions and avoid being taken advantage of. Additionally, gospel teachings can be applied to these principles, such as the importance of honesty, integrity, and discernment. Overall, understanding these influences can help individuals make better decisions on their personal, spiritual, and professional lives.
End with a prayer.
