Environmental Factors
: Focusing on providing shelter, health, and well-being, employment, and education. a.
Economic – the economic conditions can impact unemployment rates that could potentially place more youth in the Covenant House. b.
Government Funding – if they are not being funded accordingly, it can affect and impact the way Covenant House operates under these conditions. As the population may grow, it can be difficult to manage both the funding and operation
outcomes.
c.
Awareness of Social Issue – Social media and other news outlets can impact the awareness of the issue at hand. This can impact the demand and usage needs for this specific charity in Toronto. d.
Capacity - as they have 96-beds, they are likely to reach capacity with how many
individuals are in need of a shelter. As population increases and impacts the demand, it can be difficult to manage resources and program offers available. e.
Raising Awareness - The ability to raise awareness with the usage of social media and website platforms can affect the number of individuals likelihood of attending this service. f.
Partnerships - Partnering up with other non for profit organizations or funding agencies can allow smoother and more positive outcomes of operation. What needs to be done 4.
Expected Changes
a.
Inflation in Toronto and their local economy, is seen occurring currently and is expected to continue for the foreseeable future, which can result in large amounts of young adults becoming homeless. b.
An increase in mental health awareness in society is allowing Covenant House to
pursue providing further resources tackling these issues in their therapy/programs
c.
Housing Crisis is not expected to change in the foreseeable future
d.
Restrictions on the amount of people allowed to enter and be treated at Covenant House should not change as there is no renovation of the building of a new property. e.
No competitors are expected to enter the market as this is a one-of-a-kind process that is not the same as homeless shelters 5.
Conclusions:
We have analyzed the information and we do expect the demand for Covenant House services provided to meet or exceed the levels seen before the pandemic, post-pandemic, and currently as we see an economic drop occurring 6.
