Servant Evangelism Report Evan 101-002
Encounter 1
Prelude-
Did you find out that the person you served was a non-believer?
The person I served claimed to be a believer, however, I am not certain they told the truth because they could not recall the name of the church, they claimed to attend every Sunday.
Part One-
What were the circumstances surrounding your servant evangelism encounters?
I went driving around the downtown Lynchburg area looking for anyone sitting on the side of the road or in front of buildings. I saw many people that I could have served but most were believers. The lady I served seemed to be homeless and was sitting on a bus stop bench. I began by asking if she wanted some lunch because I bought her a meal from McDonald’s. The service I did felt good to provide someone with a basic need to survive because she was most likely poor. Part Two-
What was the reaction of the unbeliever?
When I offered her the meal, she asked why I would just give her lunch and was confused. I explained that I did it out of the love of Jesus Christ to show how he loves everyone. She was very appreciative to hear that and
was very joyful about the service I provided. I found this service difficult because it took a lot of confidence to go up to her and do it, but I would serve this way again. I also want to try other ways to serve because the feeling of doing something kind to a random person out of my love for Jesus was so fulfilling. I prayed for her after our conversation but did not share the Gospel because she said she was a believer.
Part Three-
How did you feel about this type of evangelism?
I really enjoyed this type of evangelism and would recommend it to all believers and churches to try. I could have improved this encounter by praying longer and talking about the Gospel. I learned that loving others is so important in being a Christian because God loves everyone. Additionally, serving others is a way of expanding
God’s kingdom and our way of showing others His unconditional love. I emphasized to her that I served her because of my love for Jesus and his love for her and everyone.
