Foundation of Justice SDA-PHI 1520-01 Ethics Around the Globe Foundation of Justice The concept of justice is a popular topic of discussion in several spheres of society. Based on its scope of application, justice encompasses a wide range of aspects and theories. What does Justice mean to me?
To begin, I will define the term "justice." In law, justice refers to conformity to the principles of reason, commonly accepted standards of right and wrong, and the terms of laws, rules, and agreements. A claim's rightfulness or lawfulness, the application of deserved punishments or rewards, the maintenance and administration of what is just under the law, decisions regarding the treatment of individuals, or the disposition of court cases, are all examples of rightfulness or lawfulness. Many other definitions exist, but these seem the most relevant when considering the word "justice”. As the law is written to help both sides of the case, justice is when it is applied according to the way it was written. In my opinion, sometimes justice is not when the offender is sentenced to life for his or her crimes; it is when the offender receives the help, he or she needs not to commit the crime again. The modern concept of justice is based on the belief that an offender gets what is coming to him or her. The purpose of justice is to heal the hurt of both the victim and the victim's family, as well as the offender and their family. In order for justice to be effective, it must help people. According to CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development), "justice is not just keeping the law. It is respecting others' rights, treating people fairly, being honest and truthful in our relationships." What do I believe is a good foundation for Justice? Morality is based on the constitutional principle of judicial independence, which almost everyone agrees is paramount. I believe a good foundation of justice revolves around equity, need, and equality. Even though each of these concepts thrives in its own sphere, they
collectively form the foundation of justice and its influence on society. Despite criticisms about what forms the foundation of justice, these three aspects combine to form a powerful force when applied to an individual. What is Rawls’ foundation of justice and how does it relate to what justice means to you? Fairness and justice, according to Rawls, should not be seen as synonyms but as significant components of justice. He emphasizes the virtue of justice in social institutions. The focus is not on individuals or specific actions but on practices. Among the features of a good society, Rawls states that justice is just one of them. In his view, justice can be reconciled with the aspects of utilitarianism that can sometimes be misleading. Rawls' conception of justice is based on two principles. According to him, the first principle of justice is liberty. Rawl's statement specifies that everyone is entitled to the same rights and freedoms when participating in a particular practice. Therefore, everyone should have the same rights and be treated equally. There is a powerful connection between the liberty principle and legal systems and giving basic freedoms to citizens. Secondly, he believes in the principle of difference. This principle compensates for inequalities that occur concerning wealth and social positions. A difference can only be justified, if it works out to the benefit of all and if the positions are available to all. There is no way to justify inequality if some individuals benefit while others at the bottom do not. Instead, that would be justice as utilitarianism if those at the top dominated. In Rawls' view, justice is the first virtue of social institutions, just as truth is the first virtue of frameworks of thought (Mandle & Roberts-Cady, 2020). Rawls suggests that justice can thrive in a distinct and central role when compared to charity, compassion, or mercy based

on these arguments. The concept of justice connects to reincarnation and fate from an ancient perspective. What are the key features regarding global economic justice? Many researchers from various fields have taken an interest in the topic of global economic justice. For quite some time, political philosophers have debated two core liberal views on global economic justice. According to the cosmopolitan domain, the primary principle of economic justice pertains directly to all people, and a just division of economic resources should be made among all people (Landesman, 2008). However, the other domain, liberal nationalism, points out that the primary principle associated with economic justice applies to people thriving only in a distinct society (Landesman, 2008). From these arguments, economic global economic justice focuses on the division of resources. However, whatever the arguments might be, it is important to note that the principles of global economic justice do exist. However, they concentrate on affiliations among countries rather than just people. What do you believe are the most important issues within social justice currently and why are these important? Social justice is currently facing several issues. Racial discrimination is still a main issue related to social justice. Racial discrimination persists despite many global organizations searching for ways to offer equal rights to all individuals, making it a social issue that must be closely scrutinized and addressed. Even though we are in 2023, there are still issues related to sexuality and gender inequality in different regions of the world, mainly concerning wage gaps
and education. There is a noticeable gender pay gap between men and women in the same job groups in business organizations. Despite gender differences, this social issue requires attention, and justice must play a role in ensuring no wage gap in organizations. Additionally, governments and activists have worked very hard globally to close the education gap between males and females for decades. All students are entitled to equal educational opportunities, regardless of their gender. Resources 9 biggest social justice issues of 2020. Yeshiva.
