Due Thursday Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words: Have you ever visited a place that can be considered sacred? Do you consider your experience there sacred? Why or why not? What is it that made the location sacred or not? Can secular places and objects be sacred? Discuss why or why not. I feel as if I have been somewhere sacred before. Cemeteries and graveyards are considered places of sacredness. I have had to visit my loved ones many times in at cemeteries and because it is considered a place of protection in my eyes, I would never argue its sacredness. I consider it sacred because there are boundaries that are expected at these places. You are there to visit and “see” your loved ones in a way that is important to you. Many people who are going to visit someone they love are very respectful to the area around them and even leave stuff like flowers to show they have visited. I personally leave a small bottle for my dad because that is what he would want if he could have it, ya know? These places are considered sacred and are made sacred because they hold our loved ones that we want the best for even in the afterlife. Also, since many cemeteries or graveyards are kept by or within a church yard, they can be considered sacred because of religious purposes. I feel like a secular place being sacred is based on opinion more than fact. Technically no, it is not because it is not used for worship or anything like that. But someone's own personal beliefs could make that object sacred to them personally.
