Abstract Explain the issue
– The issue is the fact that some United States state lawmakers are considering
lightening up some laws against child labor in order to combat and account for worker shortages or lack of available employees in various industries. The moral framework you are applying to the issue
– The moral framework that I have chosen to apply to this issue is the virtue ethics moral framework. I chose this framework specifically because it best aligns with how I was raised and my upbringing, in general. So, I already have instilled within me the necessary virtues essential to see this issue from the same perspective. What side does the moral framework support
– This moral framework supports the side that is against this action and/or it being seen through to becoming a part of the 2024 election ballot for which voters can elect. Through the use of other alternative approaches to fill the gap for worker shortages, virtue ethics could provide a better alternative election. Continue reading to learn of the other reasonings I have to further explain my position and perspective of this matter through the lense of virtue ethics. Keywords

End of Week Assignment I would like to apply the moral framework of virtue ethics to the moral issue of lawmakers loosening child labor laws to fill worker shortages in some states. It should be especially clear to both parties that this should not be the answer to the issue. By applying virtue ethics, we would be able to see this issue as an unjust answer to a problem that could easily be mended simply by eliminating the need for certain criteria in specific specializations of the workforce. Instead of putting the children of our communities in harm’s way considering they potentially lack certain necessary knowledge of such specializations. Through the ideas of virtue ethics being applied in a situation like this we would impose our morally just character upon smaller children by not allowing them to work. Instead, we should allow them to flourish through getting the best education available to them. Furthermore, allowing them to be a child while they can be one. We should practice virtue ethics in these actions daily to show our moral character. According to the University of Texas,
(University of Texas, n.d.)
This character-based approach to morality assumes that we acquire virtue through practice. By practicing being honest, brave, just, generous, and so on, a person develops an honorable and moral character. According to Aristotle, by honing virtuous habits, people will likely make the right choice when faced with ethical challenges.
In terms of virtue of ethics, however, child labor is regarded as not only unethical but simply unjust because children should be allowed to solely focus on their primary education while also enhancing their human factors before being placed into any workplace environments.

Child laborers are frequently denied a fundamental human right: the right to education. They are often forced to perform tasks in dangerous working conditions, excessive hours, and lack of mandatory leave.
Contingent upon the type of labor they are required to be subjected to, small children may
have various differing physical and emotional consequences. Working children are regularly found to have a substantial incidence where the concern of malnutrition is concerned. Not to mention, the environments can result in stunted development. Longer working hours are also associated with poor physical health. The risk of being sexually assaulted also increases when their working hours increase.
The best way to end this discussion is through the best description I found of what virtue ethics is and how to truly apply to everyday life. According to The Ethics Centre,
(The Ethics Centre, 2016)
Virtue ethics can remind us of the importance of role models. If you want someone to learn ethics, show them an ethical person.
