Introduction
This paper will cover how God’s story intersects with my story in a 3-part format. I will be identifying sin and how it has affected humanity, how I came to an understanding that I needed a savior, and also comparing my past and current spiritual state, as well as the things I would like to see and work on in the future.
Identifying a Sinful Nature
The incapacity of any human quality or conduct to obey God is known as sin. In essence, it is a violation of moral or divine standards. It implies disobeying God. The birth of sin began when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the fruit that God commanded them not to eat. Sin did not stop with Adam and Eve. This act of disobedience made a deadly ripple effect on humanity, causing not just humanity but creation that proceeded them to taste the death they encountered when they disobeyed God. Sin affects everyone, and everyone has sinned. Romans 3 verse 23 states, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (KJV). The only One
who has defeated sin is Jesus Christ. He was tempted in every way we are, but he did not sin (Hebrews 4:14). The consequence of sin is death. In fact, the first few sentences found in Romans 6:23 state that. Every unjust act deserves a punishment. The outcome of any unjust action towards another person results in a penalty, and depending on who the crime was committed against, the penalty can be more severe. With that understanding, if we are to face a consequence when we have wronged another creation, then the retribution would be more severe when we have wronged The Creator; that retribution is death. Fortunately, there is an escape.

A little further down in, Romans 6:23, it states that the escape from the punishment we deserve is found in Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have eternal life. Through Jesus, we receive salvation, which plainly means we are reconciled with God. It is not attained by our outward work but by who we believe in.
Accepting or Rejecting the Redemptive Work Of Christ
My understanding of my need for a savior came very early. My Aunt, who is a Christian, contributed to this awareness I gained as a child. I believe God placed a moral compass in every individual to help us differentiate right from wrong. Still, when we are more concerned about our
selfish desires, we can easily ignore that moral compass, even at the expense of hurting others. This shows why God has to renew us and give us a new heart, which will convict us when we partake in sinful things.
Although my aunt raised me and I gained an understanding of right from wrong, it didn't stop me from pursuing my selfish ways. Eventually, I lived as if I had no regard for God, which was basically what I said through my actions, regardless of what I stated I believed. Sooner than later, my lifestyle outside of God became tiring. I became depressed, alone, unloved, unseen, and
uninterested in life. I know I couldn't get myself outside this dark hold because I tried and had no
success. This is when I knew I desperately needed someone greater than my situation to get me out of it. I began seeking Him, and just like Jeremiah 29:13 says, I found Him when I searched for Him with all my heart.

Living Spiritually
Before giving my life to Christ, I didn’t fully grasp the understanding of the change that occurs when you live for Him. I had heard of it, but it just stopped there. Giving my life to Christ
has caused powerful spiritual changes, such as forgiving and praying for those who wronged me,
considering others and their feelings, loving my neighbor as myself, and more. However, I still need to work on some things, such as making excuses when He places directions on my heart and trusting His plan enough to lay down mine. Sometimes, I find myself trying to figure things out on my own instead of seeking God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). I believe this is due to the hyper-independent mindset I adopted growing up and carrying that perspective into my relationship with God. I am also working on trying to worry less and be less anxious. I can find myself caught up in trying to accomplish things and become worried when they don’t unfold
in the manner I envisioned. In the future, hopefully sooner rather than later, I would like to see myself less worried, anxious, and afraid, trusting God more, and being more patient with His timing.
