Persuasive Essay :Nobody Is Perfect?
Hannah Montana once said, "Nobody is perfect." I strongly agree with this as it is indeed, a fact. No
one has the ability to do everything absolutely perfect, which includes, yes, me. Statistics show that
approximately one third of the American population regret some major life choice. While most
people wish they could go back and redo something or change some event in their life, I do not. I
see these mistakes as a learning opportunity as well as a chance to better myself and others. Cross
country is a good example of times that I might wish I could go back and change something. These
three mile races might not be life altering, but I always want to do my best and how I run does affect
my emotions. The first two races of the season were great. I ran two minutes off of my personal best
at our first meet and then ran five seconds off my personal best at the second race
. Practice was
going great and I felt that this was going to be a great season for myself. As the season went on,
however, I began to have a mixture of good and bad races. One particularly bad race was at our
home meet. I went out way too hard and I killed myself in the first half. That race was a minute and
a half slower than what my time had been in practice during our Kenyan Run. As to be expected, I
was upset about this and had two choices. I could either accept it and learn from my mistake or I
could dwell on it and let my whole season go down the drain and give up. My choice was to accept
it and learn. Everyone has a race or two that is crappy and this was that race. I changed my mindset
and prepared myself for the next race in Newton. At this race I still ran slower than my normal
times. Once again, I was faced with a choice. I chose again to get over it and learn.
The season went on and I'd have a good race, and then a bad race. Finally conference came and by
that time I had determined that I was going out too hard at the beginning of my races. The
conference race was held at my least favorite course, Newton. Coach told us that the race would go
out very fast. This psyched me out and as is to be expected, I went out too hard. During the run up
that long nasty hill in the first mile I was prepared to pass out. I had accepted that I was

I Have A Fear Of Not Being Perfect
"Have no fear of perfection – you'll never reach it." (Dali Salvador). As a young student, all kids
have a fear of not being perfect. (13) Either because of the fear of disappointing parents, friends, or
just being a nuisance to society yet slipping up is normal! (19) Your mistakes help you notice your
weak spots, the things you need to work on. (15) Being perfect is unhuman, so making a couple
slips is what makes us who we are. (16) I have made countless mistakes in school and in sports but
I'm still here, ready for anything that comes my way. (20)
Not being perfect is okay! I'm not flawless and making mistakes is normal in my academic life.
Since elementary school, I've received many academic awards. Year after year, I was awarded
highest in math as well as reading. In the 5th grade, as I signed up for my classes for the upcoming
year, I decided not to take the excelled courses, instead just the average ones, which resulted in one
of the biggest mistakes. The entire 6th grade, I didn't absorb any new skills. The people that I had
been grouped with didn't maintain the same academic mindset I had. Surpassed each class with ease
was effortless. Into the 7th grade, I took the excelled classes. I was unaware what to expect, unlike
my peers who dealt with it in the previous year. At the beginning of the year, I was doing fine,
finishing work, and participating in class. On the exams, my results were suitable, except in Life
Science. Science was never my "strong suit" even

Why Am I Not Perfect
I am not perfect, I struggle with figuring out ways to study and how to write the 'perfect' essays. I do
however always improve; each semester I become a little better. I am nowhere near the best but I
always strive to do my best in everything I try. Figuring out where I wanted to attend college was a
difficult decision. I struggled all senior year and in the end was not happy with any of my choices.
So I choose to stay close to home and attend a community college and do some soul searching. I
have spent my time at Austin Community College, figuring out what I want and I came to this, I
want to attend Baylor. I realized that the one quality that all my other schools had been missing was
God.
I attended a Christian school for most of middle school and all of high school
, I had inspiring
teachers and positive friendships. After high school I though what I wanted was to go to a giant
public state university, and have the 'traditional' college experience. I applied to the University of
Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU, and was accepted into all three. I spent months creating pro and con
lists for each option. In the end, Ole Miss won. I sent in my deposit and fill out my housing
application. I was going to be an Ole Miss rebel, but it did not feel right. I pushed it down till

I looked and looked and nothing stood out, till my best friend, Jessica called me about her first week
at college. Jessica had always loved Baylor and planned to go there for years and begged me to go
to. I listened to Jessica tell me all about her experience and while listening I realized that everything
I had wanted in a school, Baylor had. I began looking into Baylor and the more I found the more
excited I became. I started imagining where I would live, what classes I would take, and suddenly
realizing that Baylor was it. After years of searching and looking the perfect school, I found it was

When individuals think about what an ideal society would consist of they often imagine a perfect
society without flaws. Where there is no deviant behaviors, social groups or classes, where
individuals live in this perfect world where everyone is the same. However, an ideal society would
be where individuals can become whoever or whatever they want without being discriminated
against. An ideal society would have social norms and mores that will be passed on to future
generations that will teach individuals how to treat others with respect and dignity. Where
individuals will use their skills and talents to benefit themselves and others. In an ideal society
individuals will not be looking at what others have in order to determine their own happiness.
Instead they should be looking at what they can do to help their neighbors advance. Even though
this will create different social classes, groups, and cultural mores and values, individuals will be
free to decide the path they choose and they will be unique in their own individual ways. Individuals
will learn mores and values through their primary groups at an early age and this will help them
progress through society as they become older. Cultural beliefs are passed down to future
generations along with the importance of these beliefs within the individual's families. This is where
they will establish a starting point on who they will develop into as an adult. The important norms
that will be passed down include "folkways, mores,

I Am Nobody Who Are You?
Kiara Rodriguez Professor Engel I am nobody who are you? Life is better when things remain
unknown instead of dealing with the judgments of others. In line four "They'd banish us, you know",
Dickinson is stating that if you are not in the somebody circle people will not approve of you
(American plain style). This is forcing one to have to live a life of an outcast under the judgement of
others. Line Two "How public, like a frog" by saying somebodies are like frogs (American plain
style). Dickinson illustrates the idea of constant need of always having to be in the spotlight. Or in
the term of her metaphor, of always being heard. This forces everyone's expectations and attention
to then be directed to the frog. Line three and four "To tell your name the livelong day to an
admiring bog" (American plain style). If one remains in the spotlight it becomes a constant
competition to the more prominent or more heard than the rest of the frogs. By stating this she is
contrasting the lives of somebodies and nobodies and the shear simplicity of a nobody. In order to
understand the poem you have to know who the speaker is. The speaker is the person who thinks
that being invisible and not being noticed is the good thing. The situation in the poem is that she is a
nobody. She questions if someone else is a nobody too. The speaker is saying that it is better to be
nobody and how dreary it would be to be a somebody. The audience would be anyone who wants to
be different and have all the

Descriptive Essay On Perfection
What is the definition of perfection? Perfection is the condition, state, or quality of being free or as
free as possible from all flaws or defects, but in my mind perfection is about having an opinion that
nobody can tell you it's wrong, it's a point of view that validates your ideals, it's a thing you hold
dear to your heart that has no desire to change through your eyes and your eyes only. I say this
because looking back at my childhood, there's nothing I would change except for me.
I was that one kid who caused havoc 24/7 only thinking about me whether it's constantly crying for
not getting what I want or being called what most people would call a trouble maker or a handful, I
didn't care in my mind
, all I cared about was having fun. It's not the fact that it's my parents are to
blame for me thinking this way or being this selfish, but it was the people who I played with at the
center of the cul–de–sac every day because they would ask for everything they want and they got it.
This accelerated the way I thought and I became a jealous kid that didn't want other kids to be better
than in any way. As I grew older, I shifted from hanging out with the kids in the cul–de–sac to
hanging out with my cousins. I had multiple cousins but there were 2 cousins who were siblings that
I always hanged out with. I remember going to their house every day or them coming to my house
every day, and we would watch TV shows, movies, play with toys, play video games, and finally go
outside and play basketball. One cousin out of the two was a couple years older than me and the
other one was younger than me by one year, but I looked up to my older cousin because he was
smart, athletic, and was kind to everyone. His personality was one I strived for, so I toned down my
selfishness and realized that family is the most important thing in the world. I started to care about
my parent's well–being, I didn't want to be that constant headache or annoyance, but I wanted to be
somebody who they can be proud of, somebody who can say my son can and will strive for
greatness. I'm sure my parents wouldn't agree with the first part of the statement because they only
wanted to make me happy at the time which they did, but as soon as I realized the

I 'm Nobody ! Who Are You?
Poetry has always been a mirror to see unseen emotions and to hear unheard thoughts. Magical
words used in an artistic way allows the reader to feel what the poet is feeling, to listen what the
poet is listening and to share what the poet is going through. The two poems "I'm Nobody! Who are
You?" by Emily Dickinson, and "We Wear the Mask" by Paul Laurence Dunbar are two classical
works of poetry
. While Dunbar shares agonizing experience of an entire community, Dickinson
shares her thoughts about individual characteristic and personality; in fact, she cleverly wins the
case of an introvert. Both these poems are independent of each other in terms of thought as well as
from literary perspective.
However, the comparison between these two masterpieces shows two different aspects of society
and community life. It shows how one community can manipulate other as well as how the society
misjudges an individual on the basis of his/her appearance. Although each of these masterpieces
shares distinctive emotions, yet both these poems seem interconnected and interrelated. Dickinson
shares with the reader her thoughts about affected fame and fake glamour that people love so much;
on the contrary she loves being "nobody". On the other hand, there is sensitive and frustrating poem
of Dunbar who communicates bigoted and biased behaviors that an entire community thrashes on
another community. In Dunbar's work, there are cultural conflict, ethnocentrism, group loyalty,
dismay and too many other

Analysis Of IM Nobody Who Are You
"I'm Nobody! Who are you?" by Emily Dickinson reveals the invaluable aspect of remaining a
"Nobody"–a person of little fame and stature. The poem examines the short monologue of a speaker
as he or she confides with another "Nobody" and pities the life of a "Somebody"–a person with
fame. The speaker finds the life of the famous boring; he or she finds being unrecognized much
more comforting. This can be seen through the author's varying tones in the first and second stanza:
the first being more secretive, and the second being more pitiful. The secretive tone is present in the
line "Don't tell!" and brings about a sense of excitement as the speaker remains out of the public's
eye. In contrast to the excitement, the second stanza reveals the speaker's viewpoint of the life of the
recognized: it is mundane and "dreary" (Dickinson 838). The distinct contrast between the secretive
tone and the mundane tone reveals why the speaker has a fondness towards being a "Nobody": the
life of a "Nobody" is–ironically–more exciting than the life of a "Somebody." Another use of irony
in "I'm Nobody! Who are you?" is the companionship found within being unrecognized versus the
loneliness created from being famous. The speaker finds another "Nobody" to share his or her
opinions with, stating that "there's a pair of [them]" while being "Somebody" results in being a frog
alone talking to an "admiring Bog" (Dickinson 838). The significance in this irony is that the
speaker identifies the

Nobody's Perfect Book Report
"Nobody's Perfect" is a realistic fiction book written by Marlee Matlin and Doug Cooney. This story
has been told from the point of view of a deaf girl named Megan who was getting everything the
way she wanted. Her house was filled with everything purple... purple invitations, purple cake,
purple food, purple clothes, and purple balloons. Everything is going perfect until Ms. Endee
announces that there is a new girl in their class named Alexis Powell. All 12 girls are invited except
Alexis. "She's practically perfect ... She is smart, pretty and good with a soccer ball", Meghan
thought. But, Meghan figures out that Alexis is acting strange every time she talks to her. For
example she never looks at Megan directly at her face, and every time Meghan

Megan tries to be Alexis' friend, the new girl is remote and rude. At first Megan thinks that Alexis is

are forced by their teacher to collaborate and work on a science project together. Alexis says "we
should work at your house" with hesitation. When they both agree to work on hamsters... things
don't go well. For example, her brother get allergic from the hamster in their house so they have to
bring it to Alexis' house. Megan notices that Alexis has a little brother and her mom tells Megan that
he autistic. When Alexis comes home, she gets upset, angry, and mad. Later they talk to each other
and slowly become friends. Alexis asks Megan if she can not tell anyone one and to keep a secret
that she even has a brother. The next day, the science teacher announces who had won, and Megan

(which is why I plan on staying). I can now see that nobody likes to be wrong that whatever they are
doing it is either not their fault or it can be right if we fight for it enough. It seems like nobody is fat
anymore that they, "have a thyroid problem," nobody is short they are just, "vertically challenged."
Not only that but now people who are alcoholics are only alcoholics because their father was a
drunk and now they're a victim to his drinking. Gay people can't help being attracted to the same sex
they were born that way and if they're born that way why should we "discriminate." If a person says
that homosexuality is wrong they will probably be told why do you have to hate or why do you have

Utopia : a Perfect Place?
Utopia :often Utopia An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects,
and an impractical, idealistic scheme for social and political reform. Each person has their own
vision of utopia, the above sentance is Oxford's Dictionary's definition of it. Utopia means an ideal
state, a paradise, a land of enchantment. It has been a central part of the history of ideas in Western
Civilization. Philosophers and writers continue to imagine and conceive plans for an ideal state even
today. They use models of ideal government to express their ideas on contemporary issues and
political conditions. Man has never of comparing the real and ideal, actuality and dream, and the
stark facts of human condition and hypothetical

They have selected to voice their opinions in anti–utopian novels, or dystopia. A dystopia is simply
the reverse of a utopia. For example, in Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, the world in which Montag
lives in is supposed to be a utopia, which he believes at first, but in the end, realises that it was quite
the opposite, a dystopia. A world where any form of literature is seen as the most disgusting thing in
the world, where people have no emotion, no individuality, no "real" love
". I would be repeating
myself if I talked about Harrison Bergeron, where communism is taken to the extreme, to change the
world to being exactly the same. A world where everyone is ugly, everyone is stupid, everyone is
absolutely horrible at evrything, but thats the thing, how can someone be horrible at something, if
you aren't compared to some one better. Another great example is George Orwell's Animal Farm,
which is obviously a direct parallel to the Russian Revolution. A horse dreamt up a utopia, a world
of equality, where all the animals lived in peace. Once again, in the end, the farm is in complete
dystopia in the end. So why does utopia seem to always end in dystopia. Well it's really quite simple.
The reason that these attempts at utopia have failed is the same reason why they will all fail in the
future. It is human nature to seek perfection and because of human limitations, we set ourselves up
for failure. By trying to create a utopia, there will always

Emily Dickinson Im Nobody
In her poem, "I'm Nobody! Who are you?", Emily Dickinson reflects her own reclusive emotions
through poetry. Emily Dickinson organizes her poem like an introduction of herself or a greeting.
Her first and second line: "I'm Nobody! Who are you?/Are you nobody – too?" the speaker
introduces his or herself as "Nobody" shows that Dickinson uses personification for Nobody and
Somebody as if to show that is their name. Next, shows the speaker's desire to be a "Nobody" and
fear of showing individuality or being a "Somebody" "How public – like a Frog" (L6) "How dreary
– to be – Somebody!" (L5) Finally, we understand that the poem shows Emily Dickinson

What Is My Perfect World Essay
My Perfect world?
I could be wrong but I think that there is no "perfect" world, there is a better world, a more happier
one in which your happy and content with what you have and what you are at that moment, but to
go to the extreme and say "perfect" I don't think so. Unless it's one of those instances that it's your

always wanting something more than what they have at that current moment. So if you ask someone

My Experience : My Personal Experience
I am a perfectionist, or a precisionist as some may say. I am deathly afraid of failure, and possessed
with the notion that if I make even one minute error, I will lose everything I have fought to achieve.
And unfortunately, that fear controls me. My goal of being best I can be is what damns me, and it
was not until recently that I how inhibited I am by my anxiety
. When I first enrolled in College
Credit Plus (CCP) Composition 1, I had no idea what to expect, all I knew was that I was going to
get an A in the class no matter what it took. Like normal, apprehension consumed me and I could
think about nothing but the grades and the possible ways I could fail. Now, I am nearing the end of
the course. Looking back, working hard, in spite of my fear
, gave me an irreplaceable gift. I have
come to realize, through taking CCP Composition 1, that my perfectionist attitude has complete
control over my writing, and furthermore, through the ordeals of the class I have come to understand
that I can change, that I do not have to be consumed with worry, and that I can allow myself to write
the true feelings of my soul without restraint. First, the experiences I have had writing essays for
CCP Composition 1 have made me realize just how much being too meticulous inhibits my writing
ability. Prior to taking this class, I was in denial. I could not acknowledge I was a perfectionist and I
masked it as much as I could. I was so afraid it would define me as an "overachiever" or a "try
hard." Furthermore, I thought that if I channeled my anxiety and used it to my advantage, I could
have perfect essays and "bedazzle" the world with my skill, therefore distracting them from the
negative aspects of being a precisionist. I was wrong. Within the first week of the course, I got a B
on an assignment. I was devastated, and against my desires people did notice my dissatisfaction. My
teacher, Jennifer Isley, pulled me aside and began to tell me just how much perfectionism was
stopping me from learning, and improving my abilities as a writer. I was stunned she knew. I
thought I had my "problem" with precisionism buried so deep no one would ever see it, but Isley
did. She barely knew me, yet Isley saw right through me. Hearing her say what I

I Am Nobody Who Are You Essay
"I am nobody! Who are you?" (Dickinson, 2013, line 1). A very famous but quite controversial line
from the poem written by author, Emily Dickinson. Many say she writes her poems using her
thoughts, others think that she writes about her friends feelings. Quite intriguing, based on what her
poems are written about. Given the fact that Emily herself faced many tragedies in her life,
including the death of most of her immediate family and a best friend, and also faced many health
issues herself, it isn't much of a wonder that when it came down to religion, she didn't really have an
opinion. But, did she make this known in her poems? Did she try to voice her opinion, with an
explanation of why she felt this way? And is she really as complicated as readers think? In the
poem, "There's a certain slant of light", many religious references have been used. This poem
specifically focuses only on the significant effect of a certain type of light that the narrator / speaker
notices on winter evenings. But, this poem is not going to be a pleasant one, because this light is
very heavy and it "oppresses" the speaker.

This poem resolves to be that in the end it is so powerful, that everything, including nature herself,
notices its presence, and then ends with a departure that allows for a complete but terrifying
understanding of death and remorse. This poem completely sums up Emily Dickinson. This poem,
along with almost every other poem of Emily's, share the same and obvious theme: Death and
weirdness about anything religions. By using religious items and well known subjects relating to
God and Heaven, she gives off a purely negative vibe to anyone who reads her poems. But in this
particular poem, the "certain Slant of light" may be oppressive to the narrator but this is definitely
not an ordinary case of

The Perfect Family : What Is A Perfect Life
What is a perfect family? What is a perfect relationship? What is a perfect life? My life was perfect
before I grew up to an age where I understood everything, where I heard everything and where I was
aware of everything.
For a long time, I was not comfortable in my own home because of a relationship my mother was in.
She was in a relationship with a manipulative, aggressive, alcoholic, and abusive man for about 15
years. That relationship was always on and off and I never understood it until I was about 12 years
old. I noticed the depression in my mother's face. I could tell if she was crying the night before, and
I noticed when she disconnected herself with others. She was never in a good place. It made me
believe there was something really going on.
Although, I am always alert. I always felt the need to help her in some way. I enjoyed helping others
as much as I can in any situation, but this is my mother I am talking about. It is important to me, to
know that everything is okay. I learned, if the boss isn't happy, then nobody's happy. I have a whole
contact list of people to call in case of emergencies, so as there was fighting, and arguing going on I
would be aware. I heard everything, I knew everything, and I was prepared for anything.
One morning after a long night, my mom and I were lying comfortably on the couch watching
movies, as usual, then my mom gave me permission to hang out with my friends for the day. It was
very strange, but I was fine with it, I

Emily Dickinson Nobody
The poem, 'I'm nobody, who are you?' is about one and a half centuries old. Yet, it hits the nerve of
our time: The digital 21st century in which everybody is somebody on the World Wide Web. Emily
Dickinson, the US poet born in 1830, was what we would now call a loner. She chose few, very
close friends during her lifetime which she mainly spend alone, writing poems and letters to near
ones. She carefully chose what to share and with whom, confiding her thoughts and feelings mainly
to paper. What she wrote has depth and reaches out to millions, still. The "Nobody" in whose
perspective her poem is written, reaches out to a possible soul mate, and the reader. "Nobody" is
definitely not an insignificant, pitiable person, rather a self–confident one. "Nobody" seems to enjoy
the anonymity of not even telling her name.

Was it written in a fit of contempt for the hustling and bustling social world? Or from the
perspective of a human who knows herself well enough to appreciate and guard her uniqueness? She
reaches out to find someone who feels alike to share her private existence. But she does so with a
slight note of humor in her appeal "Don't tell! They'd advertise – you know!" ("Nobody" 4), though
without an emoticon at the end of the line. It sounds like she would have dreaded to expose any part
of herself to share and like buttons in social networks. If these two nobodies found each other today,
they wouldn't update their relationship status ASAP. Perhaps they'd be very content sharing precious
feeling nobody else would ever understand. But maybe they'd still become news somewhere in the
world wide web: two strange ones who proved their friendship survived for a year without any
social media account, or two to make a record of having the shortest friend list on Facebook. Hence
her saying "Don't tell" ("Nobody"

What Does It Mean To Be Nobody
"Nobody." A controversial word because it is associated with being nothing; being unimportant,
being less than. "Somebody." A word that is sought after because of what it holds, what it lets those
who are defined by it become. "I'm Nobody! Who are You?" A poem written by Emily Dickinson
, is
a writing that compares the value between being a nobody and somebody. Nobodies define real life
and how to live it, they are the majority; while somebodies are just a handful.
This world is full of nobodies with"a universal feeling of being on the outside"as Harold Bloom
writes. Being a nobody is not being nothing it is just being something unique . It is not to be a
follower nor a leader either, it is to blend into the crowd and not to be be noticed easily.

People have always idolized those who seemed perfect. Despite the fact that, "Nobody is perfect,"
most people admire their "false god" as needless to say, perfect. However for many people, their idol
is a god or gods, because they are pre conceived as perfect. Greek gods however neglected this
image and brought us to the fact that, that although the Olympians were gods, they had very human
flaws or frailties. Unlike the words we use to characterize gods, we describe the Olympians as
having poor relations among one another, a some what phobia of change, and holding bitter grudges.
Many people correlate the greek gods not having problems with love considering Aphrodite is a
national love symbol. Nonetheless defects regarding love

Zeus had feared humans since they were created by Epimetheus, and if they happened to overthrow
him it would result in him facing the same deaths as his father and grandfather. He decided to keep
them around for having them worship him, however he would take any means necessary in making
sure they stayed below him, even if that meant sending a terrible flood. Moreover Zeus feared his
family breaking apart, because if they could help him get his throne, they could just as easily take it
away. As a result, Zeus tries to be as indecisive as possible by agreeing with both parties who seem
to have a problem. For example he stayed by Demeter and Hades in the argument regarding
Persephone, and tried siding with both. However this resulted in Demeter forbidding all crops to
grow, which in return Zeus had to compromise. Moreover when Hera
, Aphrodite, and Athene asked
Zeus who was most beautiful he put the dirty work towards Paris, and this resulted in an all out war.
In the end change for both mortals and Immortals result in having to deal with the shift in lifestyle,
and refusing to do so will result in consequences for both mortals and gods.
Bearing a grudge for mere mortals result in a hatred for one person and not able to do anything or a
merely breakup between the two friends. With gods on the other hand the outcome could be crops
not growing for 5 months to an all out Trojan War. Persephone, Demeter's daughter got captured by
