Admission Essay for Nursing Program Why have you chosen to pursue nursing as a career? Throughout the globe, Healthcare is among the world's leading industries. It brings service to the community by helping those who need help. Nursing also entails guaranteeing that patients understand what treatment will be like. Nurses are healthcare workers who listen to patient's emotional, physical, and mental demands. In society, nurses educate people around them about the disease, guarantee their safety in daily injuries, and teach patients to take care of themselves by taking necessary precautions. My nursing career choice was based on wanting to do something challenging but exciting. Since I was interested in maternal health, I associated myself with open-minded people with similar ideas who are more than willing to take up the challenge of women and childbirth care. I originally wanted to become a doctor, and I discovered information about becoming a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) through research. It resonated perfectly with my interest in maternal health and allowed me to be of service. Realizing that nursing has various departments, I was more captivated to venture into maternal care and enhanced childbirths. Due to the desire to become a nurse, I chose the CNM career path because there is more scope for future growth than in other bodies of practice with similar degrees, which is an integral mix. How will an MS in nursing assist you in attaining your career and educational goals? Why did you select UIC? I selected UIC due to my profound admiration for its astounding influence and dedication to excellence in nursing education. During my undergraduate years, I came into contact with admirable people who had been formed by UIC, especially in the area of maternal health. Seeing them playing such a vital role made an indelible impression, confirming the UIC principle of
outstanding performance. These interactions gave me a glimpse of the unique and nurturing environment UIC provides its students, which instilled in my heart that this is where I was meant to study to give something back to the profession. The performance of maternal health was one area in which UIC's reputation was particularly outstanding. It is particularly noteworthy that the alums of UIC have proven so diligent in their public service. They also participate in outreach activities and act as spokespersons at events such as conferences and programs to help people understand how to train themselves to become certified birth doulas. Witnessing their direct influence upon these people confirmed my instincts about UIC's ability to produce outstanding scholars and socially conscious individuals dedicated to public service. The stress on community service at UIC fits entirely with my ideals and aspirations. The idea that education would make one a valued member of society instead of just another burdensome individual seeking personal advancement is very close to my concept for nursing. Furthermore, UIC's emphasis on education in a holistic sense, mixed with its strong record of community involvement, makes it the ideal place for me to pursue continued studies. While I firmly believe in the power of education to transform, an educational environment that emphasizes academics while empowering students to improve society fits exceptionally well with my plans for a positive career as a nurse. Please comment on past experiences that have influenced your decision to pursue graduate nursing studies. My curiosity inspired me to choose more advanced studies in maternal care and postpartum doula. Seeing how love and professional assistance helped at the time of giving birth and afterward care increased my interest in becoming a nurse. First-hand exposure to the

challenges and joys of mother care spurred me to pursue my academic education. I checked out graduate nursing schools, hoping to become a Certified Nurse-Midwife one day. Wishing to influence maternal health genuinely and fighting for the ideal environment for having children makes me think about studying advanced nursing. I am excited about the different forms of energy when offering maternal care. What impressed me was the concrete evidence of thorough, responsible planning in caring for mothers at each step throughout childbirth and those first few intimate moments just after. These gave rise to a complete respect for nurses. It evolved from being just a job to becoming an idealistic profession. However, it aimed to realize the fond hope of bottom-line mothers for giving them just as much support as they needed in that sensitive but tender age. The experience not only inspired me to acquire knowledge of the indispensable nature of nursing to maternal care but also branded within me a willingness to mature further and become a Certified Nurse-Midwife. Its exploration made me more aware of the hardships and joys of working with mothers. That is when I thought about attending nursing school for an advanced degree. I would still like to be a National Certified Nurse-Midwife who can do something for mothers having babies. What drives me into advanced nursing school is my dream of acting for maternal health and ensuring these mothers have somewhere to return. The mission of the UIC College of Nursing is to transform health, Healthcare, and policy through knowledge generation tra, insulation, and education of future leaders from diverse backgrounds. Our vision is to be a preeminent leader in advancing global health and nursing. Please comment on how you can contribute to the UIC mission and vision as a student and future alumnus.
As a future alumna and as a present student, I am ready to help spread the UIC mission and vision. Working as a birth and postpartum doula has helped me to consider healthcare reform, and hence, UIC will have the chance to fulfill its dream of being among the top ten universities worldwide and a leading School for Health and Nursing. Participating in UIC means more than just concentrating on learning; it means participating in a society aiming to contribute something beautiful to the world. My doula experience also has shown clearly how life experiences are affected by what takes place in health care, and nowhere is this more obvious than when a baby is born. Experiences like this make me realize that we should aspire to revolutionary change for ourselves and others. Just by getting into UIC--and its own spirit of contributing to society at large-- I hope one day my dream will come true. Thinking back to my time as a doula in this program, the motivation for me at UIC was not merely so we could be educated; it is more about being an ambassador and catalyst for improving healthcare practices. I want to take what they teach me and give something back that helps maternal health. All women deserve the best possible care while giving birth, and I have devoted myself to seeing it through. I will be a leader myself later on, and diversity has strength. This is a chance to bring new ideas into the health problems of global nursing. What significant challenges will you need to overcome (i.e., financial constraints, family responsibilities, analytical or statistical skills) in pursuing an MS? What are your plans for addressing these challenges? Starting an MS in nursing will be difficult, and I am willing to accept the emerging hardships. Despite having financial difficulties, I am determined to apply for scholarships and other sources of support. Besides studying hard and attending all my classes at the university, I
am determined to find a pretty experienced tutor to guide me throughout the course. I will endure the challenges by putting in much effort once I enroll in my MS program. Trials Like this will test my determination to excel in the MS program. I must balance juggling family responsibilities and managing my time since I want to take more classes. I plan to organize my time and take a systematic, positive action. I want to create a schedule with concrete times for classes, study time, and special activities. If I break down big tasks into smaller chunks, I will easily keep things organized and feel free of pressure. I am focused on making priorities, concentrating, and doing significant tasks while taking short rests. Acceptance of other technology tools, including calendar apps and task management platforms, will help track deadlines or dates. Revamping my schedule will also require frequent adjustments to meet changing academic needs. Also, I will ask a professor or some academic advisor to see clearly what course topics and workloads are. Complementing studies with wellness and leisure time will help balance things out, giving college a healthier meaning. What does it mean to commit to diversity, and how would you develop and apply your commitment to diversity at UIC? Acceptance of diversity entails respect for the views, life experiences, and contributions of people from all spheres. I plan to contribute to supporting UIC's commitment to treating everyone equally, respecting the multiple faces offered by different cultures, and providing a warm environment. As a future alumnus of UIC, I would like to work actively to commit to diversity and give voice to the voiceless so something about which matters can be focused. Another area of policy that requires simplification is healthcare access. These ideals must be tried out in practice before we can say UIC is a lively place where everyone has their own space.

Since I genuinely desire to foster diversity of thought, ideology, and opinion, I want it to be a parade. I want to see myself as part of UIC's effort at diversity, creating a space where all are accepted and there is an appreciation for many voices. As a student and future alumnus, I hope that UIC will benefit from providing opportunities to promote diversity and speak up about possible inequalities on behalf of those who could be represented better. These principles will help UIC become a bright and friendly place for all of our students and administrators.
