CGlao Seat bYeace e Papeac ulovL Avdl Fov QRS qrrm Vs Introduction -~ 3" "3 - hes o we on e et T aged Qualitative research uses inductive reasoning based on an exploration or observation. The focus is typically on the researcher investigating the reasons why something happened. The information comes from interviews or observations. The answers emerge as more information is discovered. You could relate it to the work of a detective who gathers facts and organizes them to find patterns that lead to explanations for events. In this assignment, you will continue to expand your understanding of a research framework in the context of qualitative research by analyzing and evaluating research questions in qualitative studies. You will also continue to analyze the interrelated elements of a research study, making the connection between theory, problem, purpose, and, now, qualitative research questions and design. Summary Steqe Wt and W Pressuce. Ul cers For this assignment, you will craft a qualitative research question based on the HAC that you selected - for the Research Problem and Purpose Statements assignment. You will also examine qualitative methodologies and data collection strategies that would enable you to answer your research question. There is no length requirement for this assignment. Most submissions that fully address all scoring guide criteria will be 2-5 pages long. Instructions For this assignment, it is suggested that you build on the work that you did in the Research Problem and Purpose Statements assignment. This assignment has two distinct parts. < | > (Iitps:([courseroom.capelIa.edu[courses[ilOSO[moduleszltems[562049)' |___(https://courseroom.capella.edu/cou research project that will use qualitative methodologies. 11/6/23, 8:36 AM [uO5a1] Week 5 Assignment: Qualitative Research Questions and Methods Research Problem and Purpose Statements assignment for this course. Your research question should align with the problem and purpose statements that you developed in this assignment. A well-written research question should be a single statement. When examining or creating qualitative research questions, the following checklist may be useful. Qualitative Research Question Checklist + Does the purpose statement fit logically with the problem statement? Does the purpose statement use similar words to the problem statement, or does it seem to address a different topic? « Do the research questions align with the method and design of the study? For instance, are words like perception used that would automatically reject a quantitative study? Do questions seek to describe responses to the variables described in the study? » Do the questions begin with the word why? « Do the questions focus on a single phenomenon? « Do the questions include exploratory verbs? « Isthe language non-directional? « Are the questions open-ended? » Do the questions specify the participants and research site? Relevant Scoring Guide Criteria » Formulate a qualitative research question. + Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and respectful of the diversity, dignity, and integrity of others and is consistent with expectations for health care professionals. Part 2: Qualitative Methods and Data Collection For this second part of the assignment, you will draw on your readings about qualitative methods and data collection to first identify specific qualitative methodologies that will enable you to answer your research questions. You will then discuss specific qualitative data collection tools or strategies that are appropriate for answering your research questions. Questions to consider when looking for tools and strategies and tools include: ¢ Which research question are you specifically trying to answer? » How does the specific HAC affect the types of tools and strategies that would work best? « How does the health care setting where the research project will occur affect the types of tools and strategies that would work best? This part should include a review of why it is important to a potential research plan as a whole to ensure that your data collection plan is relevant to your chosen methodology. < > {https://courseroom.capel Ia.edly.lzcoursesg11650(modules[lfems[562049), ijh_ps{z Eéiil‘seroom.capella.edUZCOUI Kelevant >coring suiae uriteria https://courseroom.capelia.edu/courses/11050/assignments/204635?module_jtem_id=562052 2/6

Background and Evidence Background of the Problem: Pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores or pressure sores, are injuries to the skin and underlying tissue resulting in healthcare particularly in settings where patients have limited mobility, such as intensive care units, nursing homes, and home care. Stage 1l and 1V pressure ulcers are severe forms of this condition, involving deep tissue damage and potentially leading to serious complications such as infection and sepsis. Stage 1ll Pressure Ulcers: In stage 11l pressure ulcers the damage has extended into the tissue beneath the skin, forming crater-like wound. This stage is characterized by the loss of full thickness of the skin. The ulcer appears as a deep crater with or without undermining adjacent tissue. Stage IV Pressure Ulcers Stage IV is the most severe form of pressure ulcers. The damage extends to the muscle bone or supporting structures such as tendons or joint capsules. At this stage, there is often significant dead tissue in the wound, which may appear black and may need to be removed. Infections are common at this stage and can be life threatening.
Stage III and IV Pressure Ulcers 1.0 Problem Statement According to Meddings et al. (2015), Stage IIT and Iv pressure ulcer has a negative financial impact on the side of the patient. The Hospital acquired disease makes the patients to over stay in the hospital dude to delayed healing of the wounds. This increases the hospital expenses for the patient who in most cases fail to manage. Meddings gt al. (2015) claims that if patients were safe from stage III and IV pressure ulcers, they would lower payment for up to 75 hospitalizations. Therefore, addressing the issue would lower the of health care for most of the patients. More research has to be done to find out the real cause of the problem and the impact of the issue to patients. The patient also risks losing the quality of life and recovering fully if not attended to on time (Kurutkan et al., 2015). Stage ITT and IV pressure ulcers that causes severe wounds. Victims of the hospital acquired disease show signs such as exposed bone tissue and muscles. The patients also show swelling around the affected region. Stage II and IV pressure ulcers show that there are still issues that lie within the institutions of health care. There is need to understanding the ecological influences, healthcare practices, and patient-related factors that cause the problem (Fernando et al., 2017). This will help the relevant authorities and stakeholders to develop effective measures that will help to prevent the problem and adequately address the problems that are already existing. Specific hospital practices such as healthcare protocols and nursing interventions need to be assessed to find out their contribution to the problem of pressure ulcers (Dobre et al., 2020). Additionally, impact of various hospital resources and healthcare infrastructure to the patient’s well-being and quality of life. Addressing this issue will guarantee safety and quality healthcare in various institutions of health care.
2.0 Purpose Statement The main purpose of this research is to investigate the factors that influence the occurrence of the hospital-acquired ailment, Stage IIT and IV pressure ulcers (Fernando et al., 2017). The research study will develop efficient strategies that will help to intervene and address the problem of pressure ulcers (Mallah et al., 2015). The research intends to come up with recommendations based on latest research findings for reliability in addressing the problem (Gaspar, et al., 2022). This research will focus on finding the main cause of the problem in the health care institutions that promote the happening of pressure ulcers (Mallah et al., 2015).. Recommendations that are based on detailed research will help doctors and nurses to work together to fight Hospital acquired diseases particularly Stage III and IV ulcers. The research will emphasize on improved risk assessment strategies and patient education to ensure the problem is tackled comprehensively (Gasper et al., 2019). The intention of the research is to help to fight the widespread of the problem and other hospital acquired diseases. Hospitals need to utilize technology and other innovative approaches to enable nurses and medics to diagnose the problem as early as possible. Innovative equipment can also be used to single out patients who have high likelihood of contracting the disease. Using technology-based tools in the daily health care practices can help to effectively implement preventive measures to stop the occurrence of pressure ulcers (Gasper et al., 2019). Other than identifying patients who are prone to the disease, appropriate nursing programs will be recommended to ensure that effective interventions are undertaken on a timely basis. Research- based intervention to the problem of pressure ulcers will help to address the current problem and lay a foundation for a holistic approach to preventing Stage III and IV pressure ulcers.
