2 Reflective Writing Nursing My initial emotional responses to watching the "Empathy: The Human Connection to Patient Care" video are surprise, fear, and sadness. Firstly, I was surprised by the initial question in the video asking, "Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?" this made me have the urge to know more about what the video was depicting (Cleveland Clinic, 2013). However, upon further exploration, I was in fear of seeing some patients in critical care and depending on other people to help them; hence, this made me feel sad, and at the same time, I felt sorry for them due to their critical conditions. Upon viewing this video, I anticipate a significant impact on my perception of adults in clinical settings. By showcasing the trials and tribulations older adults and their loved ones face during health-related encounters, this footage has the potential to cultivate an increased level of compassion and comprehension within me. For example, an individual may develop a greater tendency to perceive elderly individuals as distinct beings with their narratives and requirements upon viewing this video. Consequently, this can potentially foster a heightened sense of empathy in providing care. The video underscores the significance of empathy and kindheartedness in caregiving by presenting diverse examples of fostering a favorable impact on the people one attends to. These examples include attentively listening, offering emotional support, and customizing care to cater to individual needs, providing lucid explanations of treatment alternatives, and advocating dignity and reverence. The significance of these variations in medical attention lies in their ability to not only improve the overall satisfaction of patients but also influence their health results positively. Providing empathetic care is not just morally correct but also aids in ensuring patient cooperation and fostering a robust doctor-patient bond, which can greatly affect a patient's state of being and recuperation.
