CAN Chapter 1.4 new solution update 2023 What are other names CNAs are called? - They can be called a nurse aid, certified nurse aide, patient care technician or certified nursing assistant. What are tasks CNAs provide? - CNAs are given tasks by nurses to provide personal care: bathing, drinking, eating, hair care. Another task for a CNA is to promote independence for a resident to help their self esteem. What are the duties for a CNA? - CNAs must help with toileting needs, moving around/walking, keeping a resident's living area clean, neat and safe, caring for supplies and equipment, dressing residents, making beds, giving back rubs, oral care. What duties can't CNAs do? - They cannot give medication, inserting or take out tubes in a resident, change sterile dressing, give tube feedings and cannot delegate other CNAs. These are all done by an RN or LPN. What is an exceptional duty a CNA can do? - A CNA can help change sterile dressing with a nurse if he/she needs help. What is the CNAs role in the health professional team? - CNAs are the eyes and ears of the team because they observe changes in a resident's condition. They are an important role in the team. Charting - It is reporting changes of a resident's condition and writing down the information. This is what a CNA mainly does in the team. What is the goal of the health professional team? - To help a resident recover from an illness as much as possible. Residents' rights - All residents in LTCFs are the responsibility for each CNA. If a resident needs help even if he/she is not in your assignment sheet, provide care and help. ATL flowsheet - It is a document that reports changes in a resident such intake and output. Usually done by the CNA. Care plan - Tasks assigned by the nurse for the CNA to provide care in daily routines for a resident. Tasks include vital signs and weight loss.
