Do you have any experience with publishing, giving a podium presentation, or a poster presentation? No, I don’t have any experience in publishing, giving a podium presentation or poster presentation. I am currently working towards learning these new skills as it will be of great essence in sharpening my future practice role as an advanced practice registered nurse. The nursing practice requires one to possess highly competent research skills and thus its of importance to familiarize with the process of publishing the research process and giving presentations as a means to disseminate the research findings. These new skills in presentation will be developed by attending seminars, conferences and other professional board meetings to help learn the various presentation skills. I will undertake various class presentations to help build confidence in public speaking which is a major challenge to most people. It is never easy to stand before a congregation and present these new skills thus one should start by having short presentation in front of fellow peers and continuously foster the competency of delivering a speech or a presentation. I will also engage in practice site presentations during the continuous medical education (CME’s) or professional development programs to deliver content on short topics. The nursing program requires nurses to uphold highly competent leadership skills in order for one to secure diverse leadership positions within the current healthcare systems ( Jokiniemi et al., 2020 ). As a leader one needs to possess sharp and competent presentation skills which indicates a need to learn the diverse presentation skills. Engaging in the presentations will make it easy for me to undertake community and population education programs to enlighten patients and other community members on diverse health presentation measures.
Nurses play a crucial role in health promotion, and thus it’s important to learn how to publish highly useful data and make short power point and poster board presentations to deliver the content of importance in a short and a precise manner ( Jokiniemi et al., 2020 ). I am highly content to developing these new skills as a means to foster professional, academic and personal growth. I believe every move starts with a single step and I am willing to put my resources together towards rebuilding these essential skills in data publishing and making various types of presentations. Why is disseminating practice scholarship essential to advance practice nursing? Advanced practice nursing requires all the students to complete a DNP project by coming up with a practice change initiative and develop an evidence based intervention to address the identified practice gap ( Anderson et al., 2019 ). The distribution of the project findings is a crucial part of the professional nursing practice as a means to improve the science and art of the nursing practice. The DNP project serves as a voice for those who contributed effort, time and support towards completion of the project in expressing their appreciation and gratitude for their contributions. One may join a community of practitioners who are members of a particular community of practitioners through completion of their practice project ( Anderson et al., 2019 ). The dissemination of the project findings fosters profession growth and development towards achieving professional and academic success thus an opportunity for better career opportunities. The dissemination of the project findings plays a crucial contribution in the expansion of the nursing knowledge base and provides an opportunity to apply research findings in addressing diverse practice situations and verifying information developed by others ( Kwan et al., 2022 ). The process of sharing, spreading fresh seeds of knowledge, puts us closer to our objective of preventing unnecessary sickness and damage, improving
quality of life, and consoling those who have reached the end of life in this continual, ever- expanding feedback loop. The group you choose, the clinical condition you identify, the past research you collect, and the evidence you use will all be unique to you. You may discover that you have created a new model of care, identified knowledge gaps, or discovered a solution to a problem that was unknown previous to your work ( Kwan et al., 2022 ).
