A brief justification for three components of the Six Aims of High-Quality Health Care that you think are most important when evaluating a crisis management plan. Then, provide a quick analysis of the “Five Years After Katrina: Progress Report on Recovery, Rebuilding, and Renewal ” recovery plan or the chosen plan, and explain the insights you gained.
1. Patient-centered. 2. Effective.
3. Safe.
I consider the three components of the Six Aims of High-Quality Health Care patient-centered, effective, and safe as the most important when evaluating a crisis management plan. Patient-centered is defined as providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values (Institute of Medicine, 2006). Everyone in a crisis moment response may differ, and their needs now would require assistance. A person-centered plan would ensure that their needs are highlighted and considered. Effective is vital because a crisis management plan must work efficiently. An effective strategy would ensure all components are working accurately and positively impact the individual or community in moments of crisis. To do so, the services should have evidence of being beneficial and services that are not likely to be resourceful should be avoided (Institute of Medicine, 2006). Safety is a priority for all forms of crisis planning. Ensuring the safety of clients, victims, responders, and everyone involved in the crisis management
plan. Physical safety is crucial when victims are the recipients of the crisis management plan and keeping them safe post traumatic events is critical for
survival. The Five Years After Katina: Progress Report on Recovery was detailed and informative. The amount of work put into rebuilding the communities from all
aspects took a tremendous effort from everyone involved. One of the sections I found to be interesting was the section on rental programs. Throughout the course, we discussed the impact crises have on vulnerable communities and areas that do not have resources. The Public Housing Program (CDBG) funded construction for an additional 3 114 units post-
Katrina; this new housing would help the lowest-income residents (Office of Governor Haley Barbour, 2010). The strategizing post-Katrina was a collective effort to look at the totality of the situation and recover from the crisis.
