Hello class,
1.
The main theme for the interventions conducted and published by this research article
demonstrated how using pedometers can help track activity and lose weight (
Matthew
et al., 2019
).
The article
was published in the International Journal of
Preventive Medicine.
2.
Select a peer-reviewed nursing journal that published similar articles to
your DNP project topic and identify the journal name.
3.
Find the author's guidelines on the journal website and add the author
guidelines URL.
4.
State the word or page limit for the manuscript as found in the author
guidelines. If there is no limit, please state that.
5.
Detail your plans to publish a manuscript in a journal after graduation.
Determine if you plan to partner with a mentor to support your
publishing work.
6.
Evaluate barriers or challenges to journal publication and propose
strategies for overcoming those barriers.
or this week's implementation update, address the following:
Part Two
1.
PICOT- For obese adults with a body mass index greater than 25 at an urgent care center,
does the implementation of a pedometer-based walking program, compared to current
practice, impact weight in 8-10 weeks?
2.
Currently, I am in week eight of the project and starting week six of the implementation
portion.
3.
So far, everything has been great with the project. Participants are walking and still
willing to have weekly check-ins. Walking averages are still high. For the purpose of this
project, I think gathering information an initial week prior to the start of the project
would have helped gather a more accurate step count as people’s averages were very high
from week one which can potentially minimize the data from week one and week 10.
Overall though participants seem to be engaged and recording accurate information.
4.
The knowledge-to-action (KTA) model provides healthcare workers with a framework to
identify a problem and apply a solution to practice. This model helps analyze a gap in
practice, assess
the selected issue, and implement a plan of action to help provide a
more effective health service (Provvidenza et al., 2019). The KTA model is based on
applying something into practice to help fix a problem. The problem of obesity is great in
my local area, and pedometers can help combat the epidemic. There is a lot of strength
in this framework of applying the knowledge learned to practical use.
