What is the difference in leadership and management?
Leadership is the embodiment of many skills and personality traits one
possesses. Management is the possession of a title given to one by the
hierarchy of an establishment. Leaders usually possess key leadership
qualities, and they are as follows: “having a high level of knowledge or
skill, self-motivated, good communication skills, willingness to take
risk, the ability to accept criticism, persistence, creativity, and good
stress tolerance” (
Catalano, 2020, pg.248). Leadership style theory is
broken down into three types according to Catalano (2020):” Laissez-
faire- permissive, nondirective, or passive Democratic style-
supportive, transformational, participative, and Authoritarian-
controlling, directive, or autocratic” (pg. 248). Management as stated
earlier is a title given to someone. With the management title comes
increased responsibility and being held formally accountable if tasks
are not performed in a timely
and efficient manner. Management
should also possess good leadership qualities like those listed above to
help motivate whom they manage, and this will in turn bring about
better management outcomes. Not all people in a position of
management are good leaders though.

What type of follower are you? Can you improve your
followership skills? How?
I would have to say that I am an independent follower. I think for
myself, I have the ability to solve problems individually, positive and
motivated, and at times may even challenge the leader if I strongly
believe them to be incorrect or believe that my solution would work
better. I think that I can absolutely improve my followership skills. I do
not think that anyone possesses a skill that is perfect, nor do I believe
that I am perfect, that is why I am always willing to try new techniques
that may enable the betterment of future tasks and outcomes. I think I
could improve my followership skills by allowing myself to be a follower
and reminding myself that I will not always be able to lead and that it
is O.K. Also, try to be a better listener and offer more support to
whomever is the leader.

What efforts are being made to ensure high-quality, cost-
effective health care in the United States? Is it working?
The biggest overhaul of the American healthcare system was the
passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010. The goal of the ACA was to
make health insurance affordable to more Americans. The ACA
eliminated the restrictions of pre-existing conditions and it also created
more affordable insurance plans. Although the ACA was marketed as a
way to help millions of Americans, it also hurt millions of Americans
that did not qualify for government subsides and had to deal with
higher insurance premiums. I think that as of late the promotion of
preventative care is a great way to ease the cost burden on healthcare
system as a whole. If an illness can be prevented or caught early, it
would lead to less demand for medical treatment. I think that the
American healthcare system does fall short in many areas such as;
access, especially in rural areas, the cost of care even when a patient
is insured as most insurance plans require the insured to meet a
detectable prior to covering services and services may still not be
covered at 100%, medication cost and insurance coverage of certain
medications, and the practice of healthcare facilities hiring less skilled
staff instead of highly trained RN.s to cut cost (Catalano,2020).

What is a common "moral hazard" in health care? What are
the long term implications of this?
Insurance companies are getting more integrated with health care
providers to manage what types of care a patient needs and would
benefit from
( Academy, 2011, 6:55). HMO and PPO insurance plans
work with certain providers, and these are the providers the insured
are expected to go to for care. This is an attempt to limit access to
high-cost services and prevent someone from getting services that
they don’t necessarily need or would not benefit from at the expense
of others. This is what economists call a moral hazard (Academy,2011,
7:52).
