Chagas disease has been an issue in the western countries and has been largely denied the publicity it needs. Chagas disease, also known as American trypanosomiasis, is a tropical parasitic disease caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, also known as a kissing bug. In the article, Continuing evidence of Chagas disease along the Texas-Mexico border, the arising problem has led to the need of educating those living in this area (Nolan MS, Continuing evidence of Chagas disease along the Texas-Mexico border). To have publicity and teach about preventative care and the signs of chagas disease to those that live in this area is detrimental to improve the health and well-being of the public. Teaching about the symptoms you can catch chagas disease early by getting blood tests done this would improve the chances of the treatment working early on(Nolan MS, Continuing evidence of Chagas disease along the Texas-Mexico border). Right now, chagas disease is trending and becoming more of an issue due to current time issues. Due to an increase on immigrants movement towards the US there are more cases of chagas disease being diagnosed along the border (Agudelo Higuita , Chagas disease and domestic medical screening guidance for newly arrived individuals under a humanitarian-based immigration status: A call for action). Those who are coming from South America and Central America are traveling through common environments of the chagas bug and or eating contaminated food that contains the parasite. (Agudelo Higuita , Chagas disease and domestic medical screening guidance for newly arrived individuals under a humanitarian-based immigration status: A call for action) Another factor is increasing cases of chagas happens to be climate change I have stayed in the frontiers article; climate change could possibly enhance and speed up the transmission of the parasite (Esteve-Gassent, Pathogenic Landscape of Transboundary Zoonotic Diseases in the
Mexico-US Border Along the Rio Grande). Not only that but those that live along the border tend to live in poor conditions and because of improper data and knowledge on the chagas bug action has not been taken to combat the issue. Right now, studies are being done to better understand how to deal with the crisis at hand. The correlation between all three articles is the fact that chagas is becoming more and more of an issue. There is not enough publicity being done to educate the public about the importance of recognizing these symptoms of chagas disease an understanding they should see a specialist immediately. The Texas Mexico border is currently experiencing a crisis of pinpointing chagas data with the public unwillingly wanting to help. It is also difficult to help in low-income areas that don't see this as a priority or are unaware of what's happened.
