Ephesians 4:29-32
Ephesians 4:29-32
The devotional Ephesians 4:29-32 has many valuable principals that can be applied to nursing
today. Besides the physical aspect of care in nursing, it includes fostering healing environments. Nursing
also involves emotional support, and we create meaningful relationships with patients during their stay.
In nursing we use our words to encourage and uplift patients, family, and friends. Using positive
language can aid in the healing process of the patient. Destructive communication can hinder progress,
as nurses we should avoid using harmful language and angry outbursts. Information can be relayed in a
positive manner even when the information is difficult to deliver. Nonverbal communication can also be
used such as our tone and body language. Nonverbal body language can help convey patience and
empathy. Nurses are human and can struggle with resentment and bitterness. Self-reflection is an
important coping tool to help us address and correct any negative feelings we may encounter. Drawing
from our faith can help us find patience, empathy and compassion when working with others.
