Health Care Model Infographic Dawn Parker Grand Canyon University HCA 515 Analysis of Contemporary Health Care Delivery Models Dr. Chip Coon December 6, 2023 1
Health Care Model Infographic An increasing number of Americans are choosing holistic healthcare, including various types of alternative medicine, over traditional therapy, with a ratio of over 40%. For a variety of reasons, including but not limited to relieving chronic pain and stress, there are several holistic approaches that may be used to diagnose, treat, and manage almost any health issue. However, what is holistic medicine, and how does it contrast with conventional medical practices? Many more people are living with long-term health conditions that have an impact on their daily lives and quality of life than in previous decades. People living with long-term health conditions are the focus of this research, which seeks to assess quality of life in general and health-related quality of life in particular. Physical, mental, and social well-being are the three pillars upon which health-related quality of life rests. A person's illness and/or treatment impact these areas. Patients with long-term health problems frequently have their health-related quality of life evaluated, which can reveal substantial impairment (Megari, 2013). A major health barrier in 2014 was the prevalence of chronic diseases, with an estimated 100 million Americans suffering from at least one. Ninety percent of the nation's healthcare spending goes toward these people. The need to continuously manage diseases and provide care for the elderly is a major factor contributing to the rising cost of healthcare caused by chronic illness. Current healthcare systems will become financially unsustainable unless new strategies are put in place that focus on reversing chronic illness ( Beidelschies, et al., 2019). Arthritis, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, and other medical conditions can all contribute to the onset of chronic pain. Injuries or accidents can cause pain, or it can be a sign of another health problem. Some of the long-term consequences of chronic pain include difficulty sleeping, emotional discomfort, and fatigue. To help patients deal with pain daily, holistic care providers 2
use a variety of approaches to determine its origins and then devise strategies to alleviate it. Several holistic therapies have demonstrated efficacy in treating chronic illnesses. Acupuncture can provide benefits to individuals experiencing chronic pain, while meditation can offer benefits to individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, or ADHD/ADD. Most people, when they hear the term "holistic medicine," picture alternative practices like acupuncture or herbal remedies. Even though these are all part of holistic medicine, the term really covers a lot more ground. To help with recovery, it considers every part of a person's life. The word "holistic" may immediately suggest negative associations for some people. Basically, your holistic health approach can be molded to fit your personal preferences. It is within your power to improve your mental health if that is your desire. You are free to put your physical health first if that is what you prefer. Achieving holistic health does not adhere to a single, universal formula. In addition to traditional, contemporary medicine, one can take a holistic approach ( Menezes. 2020) . People with long-term health conditions often have their mental health neglected, despite its crucial importance. Promoting patient compliance with therapy relies on preserving the patient's psychosocial element. People with higher faith in their capacity to live a quality life despite their disease are more likely to follow their treatment plans. When dealing with stress or emotions of being overwhelmed, it can be difficult to stick to a treatment plan. Especially among those who suffer from long-term diseases. Consequently, patients get a deeper level of well- being, leading to enhanced enjoyment and a healthy lifestyle, by valuing the peacefulness of their inner self. 3

Optimal health defined by the absence of sickness or disease Focuses on optimizing the overall welfare of all elements that contribute to an individual's entirety and fulfillment. Similarities Differences Contemporary medicine relies on scientific investigation and analyzes the body by dividing it into specific sections. Holistic medicine adopts a comprehensive approach by considering the body as a whole entity and attending to the individual's mental, physical, and spiritual aspects. Treatment of physical symptoms, diagnosis of the problem's origin, evaluation of the patient's medical history, encouragement of healthy eating and regular exercise, and teaching of techniques to manage stress and improve general health are the main goals of both models.
