The movements of flexion and abduction are different because abduction moves away from the midline of the body and flexion is when you decrease the angle of the joint. 2. What is a rotator cuff? What does it do? A rotator cuff is made up of four muscles around the shoulder blade that help to keep it stabilized and allow the shoulder joint to rotate and elevate to the side. Its main function is to help your shoulder joint. 3. What is passive movement? Passive movement is when a body part or a limb moves without help or voluntary effort. Basically movements are produced from an external force. 4. What is the difference between a sprain and strain??? The difference between a sprain and strain is that a sprain has to do with tearing or overstretching of ligaments. A strain is overstretching or use of the muscle or tendons. 5. Explain the difference between what an OT and a PT does?? What is the difference in their therapy modalities?? The difference between OT and PT is that OT focuses on helping patients improve daily living activities working more on fine motor skills and upper body movements. Physical Therapy focuses on improving and restoring the patients’ gross motor skills, typically patients who are recovering from an injury.
