Oct 5, 2015 - Week 3 Question 3
What are you finding? What new information have you learned about this issue? What new questions or thoughts do you have now that you have done some preliminary research?
A lot of the cultural factors are across cultures in regards to depression. I noticed when I put "societal connections
....
" into the the search engine the information was of a positive nature and how the risks of depression lessen when people are more social. I found that intriguing. Also, now I am asking myself if my research topic will lead me to the factors of why depression occurs? Or, how and why depression can be lessened? Week 3 Question 4
Can you narrow your focus at all? If so, what do you wish to focus on? If you have a few options, what are they? (You don't necessarily need
to narrow your focus. Mark found this helpful to do because his topic is very broad.)
My focus can be narrowed, I feel I want to focus on the more positive side of this topic: "How Can Being More Social Lessen the Development of Depression?", or keep following the Cultural factors that affect rates of depression. I'm really torn in my direction path.
Week 3 Question 5
Based on the broad search, refine the list of keywords that you created on the previous page. List here any keywords or keyword combinations that returned results that are relevant to your social science issue. Then, note which keywords or combinations you will no longer use, as they returned off-topic or overly broad results.
The keywords and combos I will keep are:
cultural connections to depression rates of depression in the american culture societal connections to depression The ones I will no longer search with are:
depression and daily living depression's effect at work
