Hi all,
I am approaching this crash site with no accident information other than that which is
visually apparent at the crash site. Starting with an overall analysis, I will review the plainly
evident or apparent factors, followed by initiating a deeper analysis of the areas that may be
hiding further information. The overall analysis will review the aircraft’s final resting site, any
ground indications, and examine for possible missing parts. Upon arriving, coordination with
local law enforcement is important to ensure the site is cordoned off and the wreckage remains as
undisturbed as possible.
The accident site seems mostly consolidated in one location. One major component, the
nose landing gear, is located near the point where the aircraft broke through the airport gate, at
the start of the scarred grass leading to the final aircraft resting site. Some components may have
gone missing at some point, such as multiple fan blades from each of the two engines, some
burnt interior components like seats, and some metal sheets located on the path created by the
scarred grass. Sections of the forward left side of the fuselage, as well as the aft ceiling, are
missing but seem to be burnt. Additionally, a chink of the nose radome is burnt and missing. the
diagram below, with the majority of components in one location, the nose gear being the only
large component significantly farther from the rest of the wreckage.
The wide path going from the airport gate to the wreckage gives the impression the
aircraft skidded down the side of the hill between the airport gate and the final resting site. The
flaps are fully extended, spoilers are deflected, and engines both appear to have their thrust
reversers activated, indicating the pilots touched down and attempted to stop. The nose gear
location next to the gate indicates it may have been sheared off by the impact with the gate
(identified as nose gear due to a lack of hydraulic lines leading from and to the brakes which are
usually not present on nose gears). A large black spot where the fuselage broke apart and the
marks on the fuselage indicate a fire broke out at some point. Although the aircraft broke off a
large section of the approach lighting system, the structure seems to have had some influence in
stopping the aircraft as indicated by the aft portion and vertical stabilizer resting on the structure.
