Name: Kirillos Soliman Lab # 9 Measuring and Assessing Motor Skills (10 points) For this lab you will complete and score your own responses to the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ-3). Your scores will be kept confidential and will not be used for research purposes. Subscale scores will be checked for computational accuracy only. Part 1 (3 points) 1. Complete the BREQ-3 (attached to this lab on pages 2 and 3). Part 2 (5 points) 2. Score the BREQ-3 by summing responses within each subscale (see table below for items, by item number, within each subscale) and dividing by the number of items in that subscale. For example, suppose that person A selected: “0” for item 2, “1” for item 8, “0” for item 14, and “1” for item 20. Person A’s score for the amotivation subscale would be: 0.50 because 2/4 = 0.50. 3. Provide each of your subscale scores below using two decimal places. 0 0 2.25 3.25 2.25 3.5 Amotivation External Introjected Identified Integrated Intrinsic Part 3 (2 points) 4. Think about your subscale scores and the degree to which you believe these scores match your true exercise regulation behavior. Provide a few sentences that summarizes your thoughts about the validity of your BREQ-3 scores. An answer will receive full credit if it is judged as a thoughtful attempt to integrate the relevant material. I think this is a great way to get an answer of which factors influence exercise in a person. This could also tell the person taking the questionnaire more about themselves as a person and open their eyes to the real reason behind them working out. I think the questionnaire is valid to some extend due to person who is taking it. For example, if someone is forced to take it they could lie
Name: Kirillos Soliman about some of their answers and it will throw off the scores and ultimately the validity of the questionnaire will decrease. EXERCISE REGULATIONS QUESTIONNAIRE (BREQ-3) Age: 20 years Sex: male female (please circle) WHY DO YOU ENGAGE IN EXERCISE? We are interested in the reasons underlying peoples’ decisions to engage or not engage in physical exercise. Using the scale below, please indicate to what extent each of the following items is true for you. Please note that there are no right or wrong answers and no trick questions. We simply want to know how you personally feel about exercise. Your responses will be held in confidence and only used for our research purposes.
