Context and Conditions of Assessment
This assessment will ensure that the elements, performance criteria, performance evidence and knowledge evidence required and conditions are adhered to demonstrate competency in this unit assessment task. ●
Read the assessment carefully before commencing.
●
This is an open book assessment and will be conducted at the RTO address.
●
Your Assessor will use the checklists, in this document, to ensure that all the criteria has been assessed; and will
provide feedback / comment. ●
Your assessor will observe you in demonstrating tasks under simulated workplace conditions within typical workplace time constraints in order to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and ability within an automotive workshop. ●
Your Trainer / Assessor will inform you of the due date for this assessment task. ●
This assessment will be required to be completed in 16 hours
●
Your Assessor will grade as either S – Satisfactory or NS – Not Satisfactory for the assessment. In all cases your Assessor will provide you with feedback. ●
Only when all assessment tasks have been graded as S – Satisfactory you will be deemed C – Competent in the final result of the unit of competency; if you do not satisfactorily complete all the assessment tasks you will be deemed NYC – Not Yet Competent.
Re-Assessment Conditions
●
If the evidence is graded as NS – Not Satisfactory you will be required to re-submit the evidence. In this case, you will be provided with clear and constructive feedback based on the assessment decision so that they can improve your skills / knowledge prior to reassessment. ●
Where a ‘NS – Not Satisfactory’ judgement is made, you will be given guidance on steps to take to improve your
performance and provided the opportunity to resubmit evidence to demonstrate competence. The assessor will determine and discuss the reasons for NS – Not satisfactory on any of the criteria and will assess you through a different method of assessment e.g. verbal/oral questioning, problem solving exercises. ●
You will be notified within 10 working days of undertaking an assessment of their result in achieving competency o
If a student does not complete the assessment, they should notify their trainer as to why they did not complete the assessment and if due to illness, a medical certificate must be produced. “This process is detailed more in the “Training and Assessment Policy and Procedure”
o
In the above scenario, student will be given an opportunity for reassessment within 5 working days with no reassessment fee charged.
o
Students who are deemed to be Not Yet Competent (NYC) will be provided with information identifying
the areas in which they failed to achieve competency. Students will then have the opportunity to repeat the assessment task within 5 working days of notification with no reassessment fee charged.
o
If a student is deemed NYC in the reassessment or if the student did not approach the RTO’s within five
working days with a valid reason for not availing themselves of the reassessment opportunity, then those students will be given a final chance to re-sit the assessment and will be charged at $200.00. o
After this no further reassessment attempt will be provided to the student and the student will be required to repeat the whole unit with full fee for the unit as per the fees policy of the RTO’s. The student will be made aware of the impact of repeating the unit may have on their student visa.
o
If a student is found to be cheating or plagiarising their assessment, a $200.00 reassessment fee will be
charged for reassessing the assessment within 5 working days.
o
If the student is found to be plagiarising or cheating again after conclusion of the Intervention meeting with the Course Co-ordinator, the matter will be referred to the CEO / Operation Manager which may result in the suspension or cancellation of their enrolment o
The RTO’s has intervention strategies, including student support services available to enable students to complete qualification in the expected time frame. Students at risk of not completing within this time frame are identified as early as possible and an intervention strategy is put in place.

With the engine running, reading on the speedometer nearly matches the indication on the scan tool (MB991502).
B
. Check the ABS sensor installation and check the ABS sensor bolted securely in place at the front knuckle or the rear knuckle
C
. Inspect the ABS sensor or ABS rotor. Check items-
* ABS sensor internal resistance: 1.0 − 1.5 k
Ω
* Insulation between the ABS sensor body and the connector
terminals
* Toothed ABS rotor check
Note
Found front right abs sensor (wheel speed sensor) faulty, need to replace the sensor.

front ABS wheel speed sensor.
Note-
Do not damage the face of the teeth located at the end of the sensor during removal. And do not pull the sensor harness during removal.
INSPECTION- ABS SENSOR CHECK
1.
Check whether any metallic foreign material has adhered to the projection at the ABS
sensor tip. Remove any foreign material. Also check whether the pole piece is damaged. Replace it with a new one if it is damaged.
2.
Measure the resistance between the ABS sensor terminals.
Standard value: 1.0 −
1.5 k
∧
3.
If the internal resistance of the ABS sensor is not within the standard value, replace it with a new ABS sensor.
4.
Remove all connections from the ABS sensor. 5.
Check the ABS sensor cable for breakage, damage or disconnection. The Abs sensor needs to be replaced with the new one.

FINALS ASSIGNMENT IN ME 3215
COMBUSTION ENGINEERING
PROBLEM 1:
A Diesel engine overcome a friction of 200 HP and delivers 1000 BHP. Air consumption is 90 kg per minute.
The Air/fuel ratio is 15 to 1. Find the following:
1. Indicated horsepower
2. The Mechanical efficiency
3. The Brake Specific Fuel Consumption
PROBLEM 2:
The brake thermal efficiency of a diesel engine is 30 percent. If the air to fuel ratio by weight is 20 and the
calorific value of the fuel used is 41800 kJ/kg, what brake mean effective pressure may be expected at
S.P. conditions (Standard Temperature and pressure means 15.6°C and 101.325 kPa, respectively)?

Attempt 1
Q1/ Design a thin cylindrical pressure tank (pressure vessel) with hemispherical ends to the
automotive industry, shown in figure I below. Design for an infinite life by finding the
appropriate thickness of the vessel to carry a sinusoidal pressure varied from {(-0.1) to (6) Mpa}.
The vessel is made from Stainless Steel Alloy-Type 316 sheet annealed. The operating
temperature is 80 C° and the dimeter of the cylinder is 36 cm. use a safety factor of 1.8.

The company has three options. Supplier A sells the silicon wafers for $2.50 per wafer, independently of the number of wafers ordered. Supplier B sells the wafers for $2.40 each but does not consider an order for less than 2,000 wafers. Supplier C sells the wafers for $2.30 each but does not accept an order for less than 3,000 wafers. Assume an order setup cost of $100 and an annual requirement of 20,000 wafers. Assume a 20% annual interest rate for holding cost calculations. a. Which supplier should be chosen to minimize the total annual cost for the wafers, and what is the optimal order quantity? b.
