I have mentioned a lot of things in this technical report which increased the horsepower in Holden Commodore by 10 to 15%. Apart from this In this report I done everything step by step and I have searched lots of sources some of them I mentioned below by reference : https:// www.rms.nsw.gov.au/documents/roads/safety-rules/standards/vsi-06-light-vehicle- modifications.pdf https:// www.airlieauto.com.au/post/what-is-ecu-remapping https:// www.totalcardiagnostics.com/learn/how-does-cold-air-intake-system-improve-engine-performance/ https://exhaustsystemsguide.com/cat-back-exhaust- systems/#:~:text=Cat%2Dback%20exhaust%20systems %20generally,glasspacks%2C%20to%20reduce%20back%2 0p ressure . https://dba.com.au/products/pads/pads-overview/
2. What strategies have you developed to research and write technical reports? I searched a lot of cars to start this technical report. I used lots of different strategies, which can help to increase 10 to 15% power in a vehicle.I found out lot of Japanese car and European cars. I have remapped the car and changed the exhaust system. Then I changed the air intake system which helps to improve engine efficiency. In the last I upgraded the brakes system which is most important because after increasing the vehicle’s power it needs a good braking system. 3. What questions can you ask the customer or supervisor to clarify and confirm report requirements? These are the same things as if I work in an automotive workshop. There are lots of questions we can ask from the customer such as, what type of car do you have?, how much money you want to spend?, in how many days do you want your car ready?Does the car have any problems? etc. There are some questions we need to ask the supervisor like, About sourcing the parts; do we have time to do this? Can I book this car? Do we have a licence to do the job?.Quotation and estimate you can give the customer if he asks.
4. What workplace technology can you access to use to access technical documentation like OEM workshop manuals, ADRs, Australian Standards, vehicle Industry regulations, professional publications and pass test results data? I used ADRs (Australian Design Rules). Because this is suitable for fuel evaporative emission and exhaust emission from motor vehicles in order to reduce pollution.Apart from this department control all the vehicles in the whole of Australia.

Summary The customer wants to make his car faster and we are increasing the power by 10% - 15% as customer’s requirement in a vehicle Holden Commodore Model 1992 with registration plate ABC123. The modifications need to follows the rules and regulations of Australian Vehicle Standards. Modifications that do not require certification A vehicle that has been modified by adding optional components provided by the manufacturer or otherwise modified to comply with the manufacturer's requirements does not need to be certified. Contact the car manufacturer to evaluate the vehicle's original requirements and/or options to see if the change is legal. If the consumer is unaware of the certification, it is the workshop's duty to clarify why it is important to follow the correct protocol, both for safety and economic reasons. That is why it is important to understand the method of making modifications and the risks involved if the government's standards are not followed. In this situation, the Vehicle Standard Information (VSI) has a document that explains the process. For the customer’s vehicle Holden commodore do not need certification. Introduction From 1991 to 1993, Holden built the Holden Commodore (VP), a full-size car. It was the second generation of this Australian-made model. Holden Berlina (VP) and Holden Calais were among the luxury models available (VP).The VP Series Commodore was launched in September 1991, with mostly cosmetic and function enhancements over the previous VN Series Commodore. The VN's 2.0 litre straight-4 engine was discontinued in some export markets. Calais and Commodore SS models received semi-trailing arm IRS as standard equipment, while lower-end models received it as an alternative. Compared to the live rear axle, this new suspension provides a significantly better ride and handling. ABS brakes were also offered as an option on Series 1 Calais and Commodore SS models, as well as on most Series II models with IRS. An ignition-disabling system and a driver's door deadlock were added to the entire lineup. The product range included standard features such as central locking and power mirrors. In July 1993, the Commodore VP series was replaced by the VR Series Commodore. In Thailand, the VP Calais was also offered, initially with a 3.8 V6 engine, but later with an Opel 2.6-litre C26NE inline-six Dual Ram engine.
Remapping When the settings of a car's engine control unit' (ECU) are modified to enhance certain aspects of the vehicle's performance, this is known as remapping or ECU tuning. The owner will re-program the car to handle the fuel injection, airflow, sensors, and more by overwriting the current settings with new software (within legal limitations). How does the remapping work Replacing the manufacturer's default settings and software on the ECU with new software that can be tweaked and modified to the owner's requirements is known as remapping a vehicle (within legal limitations). If a vehicle is remapped, the old ECU software is overwritten when the customised software is plugged into the serial port of the vehicle (sometimes referred to as an OBD port). This straightforward feature has streamlined the process of tuning a vehicle and produced numerous jobs for tuning engineers and ECU software developers. What does ECU remapping do- Fuel pressure, injection timing and cycles, ignition timing, absolute boost and boost delivery, throttle input maps, and torque limiting maps can all be changed by remapping the ECU. A knowledgeable tuner can access tens of thousands of parameters on a modern engine. We can take full control of all available tuning parameters with ECU Remapping, resulting in a completely different driving experience. Exhaust system -Larger diameter pipe is used in cat-back exhaust systems than in stock systems. Mandrel-bent turns in good systems allow exhaust gases to escape with as little back pressure as possible. Glass pack mufflers are sometimes used in these kits to reduce back pressure. If the system is designed more for display than for use, it could be tweaked to bring out the lower sounds that high-RPM low-displacement engines lack. As I am attaching a picture of cat back exhaust system.

Intake air system One of the most popular and cost-effective ways to improve engine efficiency is to replace the factory air intake with a bigger, aftermarket cold air intake. The factory air intake strikes a balance between engine performance and vehicle noise reduction. During cold weather, they also heat the air while preventing moisture from entering the engine. Brakes upgrade T he brakes are often not modified or updated because it is not necessary; however, the scene is different in this case because the customer vehicle is upgrading and should have a 15% rise, so the brakes will be upgraded for safety purposes. High performance radial mount callipers (Forged 6061-T6 alloy) 2-pcs floating rotors with alloy hats (full-floating rotors available) Teflon/stainless steel DOT/ADR compliant brake lines (made in UK) Direct bolt-on calliper mounting brackets and bolts Brake pads (Can also be purchased from other brands) All necessary mounting hardware for direct bolt-on install13
Conclusion In the interest of safety, the Australian government has established guidelines for vehicle modification. The reason for this is that everybody must follow the rules and respect other drivers. This is why the VCI (Vehicle Standards Information) was developed. The workshops, in general, must adhere to the rules in order to protect the lives of the drivers; otherwise, the workshop and the mechanic can face problems, including losing their jobs, licenses, and so on. The reader will check how to increase the power in a Holden Commodore 1992 VP, achieving all of the government's requirements. In this case, the government would not require any certification because the procedure is legal, and the part was built and produced with a specification in advance about the Vehicle Standards Information specifications for vehicle modification, which in this case is a 10% to 15% increase in power. Tool and Materials: Range of reference materials relevant to technical research activities and vehicle specifications and procedures Computers and software to navigate computer software to collect, add and edit information in documents. Protective Clothing: PPE Safety goggles or glasses with side shields Steel-toed shoes Vehicle protection WARNING! The Assessment will be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY if you are attempting to carry out any step in an unsafe or dangerous way. Procedure: A customer has requested that you prepare a circuit race vehicle to be used in CAMS sanctioned events under the Category 3J – Improved Production. An Improved Production car is loosely based on a modified road car and is made popular by the fact that it is fast and relatively inexpensive, as far as race cars go. Starting out with a production body shell, and then carrying out substantial modifications to engines, brakes and suspension, has proven popular both with beginners to the sport and more experienced competitors. You are allowed to fit a bigger engine from the same manufacturer as the body shell. It can be a twin cam, or a turbo (with a restrictor), or a bridge or peripheral port in the case of a Mazda, depending on the model. You can lower the car to within 100mm of the ground, excluding the exhaust, and can change springs, shocks, sway bars and fit urethane bushes. Wheel width can be increased to 7inches for a car over 3 Litres in capacity. Brakes can be anything you like but must be dual circuit, you can use close ratio gear boxes with a maximum of five forward gears, and locker or limited slip diffs are allowed. You are allowed to fit flares, and front and rear spoilers of limited sizes. Improved Production race cars also use a control tyre which is the Yokohama A048R. The variety of cars and the low cost make it a very accessible category, ideal for drivers starting their racing career. Use a copy of the CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport) regulations for Improved Production cars (Trainer Handout) Research and present a technical report to outline the baseline technical specifications of the following vehicles to be used as a reference for performance measurements in subsequent modifications:

Summary I'll be designing a car and changing it in compliance with CAMS category 3j, which means I'll be able to change stuff like bolt-on bits, the top or bottom end, and the force induction system. All will be based on a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 2Dr. All the modifications need to follow the rules and safety for the Australian Vehicle Standard. Introduction The Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R is a high-performance sports car built by Nissan (1999 - 2002). The fifth and final Skyline GT-R (the R35 lost the ‘Skyline' part of the name), it served as the poster child for a generation raised on Gran Turismo, Fast & Furious, and a slew of other visual fantasies. An enraged-looking four-seat coupe with such Japanese technological genius that it could carve out a lap time that belied its obvious lack of performance back in the day. A gap quickly filled by a slew of tuners who, inspired by the '32 and '33, realised the simple GT-R kit was fertile ground for boost and trickery. And, as with any generation of GT-R, there have been some monster meddled- with specials over the years - 400bhp with a vague remap, 5-600bhp with some relatively minor internals, 800- 1000bhp with some relatively minor internals. It's also a car that comes with a lot of expectations, mainly based on glowing reviews from the modern motoring press, as a technical marvel that could beat up supercars for a third of the price in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Modifications requiring certifications For the customer’s Vehicle Nissan Skyline R34 GTR 2Dr needs a certificate for modifications. Because here we are doing some unique modifications in the car we need to follow the rules of Confederation of Australian motorsport. I have consulted with one of the expert engineers for car modifications. He passed all the modifications for the car. Modifications We'll be updating and changing the following for category 3j vehicles, using an R34 Skyline Gtr: Wheels: Tyres, rims, brakes Suspension: Urethane bushes, coil overs Engine: Stroke kit, racing cams, bigger turbo, high flow exhaust, bigger injectors, forged rods and race pistons. Transmission: short shifter, clutch, axles, LSD Aerodynamics: rear spoiler, front lip, diffusers Body: A roll cage, wide body kit/fender flare

Wheels - Unless your car is engineered for sports, 8 inch tyres and 15 inch rims are a fast and simple mod for a car. They are essentially lighter than the factory rims. Norma stock rims are heavier than aftermarket rims. Tyres are usually recommended for these types of cars that drive on a track because they have more grip during acceleration and turning in the direction of the tyres The Yokohama A048R, which is recommended by the cams 3j group, will be included. Brakes - I'll be using big brakes for the brakes. Brakes improve efficiency by allowing for faster deceleration, which necessitates the use of larger brakes in a modified car. Suspension - Since the dual control arms do not flex as much as the stock control arms, they can give you a much jerkier feel for acceleration.

Fully adjustable coil springs - I'll install a fully adjustable coil over springs so that I can fine-tune the suspensions depending on the track, whether it needs to be higher or lower, or even softer or stiffer. Sway bars would help you to reduce body roll and will make you achieve a faster turning speed on the track. Engine - Turbochargers can provide more oxygen for your engine to breathe. But that doesn't mean it ends there; you'll still need fuel injectors to compensate for the massive turbo.

Injectors - More air means more petrol, so I'd recommend power enterprise injectors for this, which are a direct factory bolt-on for cars like the R34. Transmission - Shifter in a hurry Owing to the decreased travel of the shifter, this will result in quicker shift times. It can take some getting used to, but this will not be a problem because you will be driving this vehicle. Clutch - A better clutch is better since larger clutches and materials with more friction than standard ones are better for quicker acceleration and no slippage. Due to the limited slip function of these axles, none of the wheels will simply spin out, giving you more traction on both wheels. Aerodynamics The front lip will add a little more down force to the front end, which will increase front tyre traction. Diffusers will give you more stability, as if you're cutting through the air like butter, and we'll only add a small duck lip spoiler on

Body Fender flares hold the car's wheels inside a wheel well, which is important because Australian regulations require that wheels not protrude from the wheel well, which is why we're using fender flares. Also improves car aerodynamics by eliminating air drag from sticking out wheels, which necessitates the use of fender flares to cover the wheels in order to reduce air drag. Essentially, it would allow air to flow through the sides of your wheels.

Conclusion With all of these modifications, I believe that this R34 skyline gtr is certified and deserving of the 3j class, and that the improvements are far superior to a stock car. In essence, this car is a better production car. According to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sports, this r34 Skyline GTR is now eligible to compete in category 3j, and all modifications have been passed for this skyline, so it's ready to hit the road.

Verbal Questioning – In Relation to Practical Tasks Job Card 1 Assessment methods must include questioning on required skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application Q1. What to do with the information you find? Students response: To start the topic I collect a lot of information, find it, evaluate and make sure it really is what you need. Once you are sure it’s relevant, it’s time for more in depth reading. Keep a list of everything you need, including information on what you decide not to use. Note down, The title, author, date and source. Where you found a source so that you can find the information again if you need to. Your opinion and whether or not you found the information useful. This way you will remember what you have tried and won’t waste time going back to resources that were not useful. Q2. What does the technical background report do? Students response: It provides information on a technical topic but in such a way that is adapted for a particular audience that has specific needs for that information. Q3. When you have completed your technical research, it is important to include a bibliography, or works

cited. Why? Students response: Yes, of course . This will help you to create your bibliography. Also you want to make sure you cite the sources within your work. And it proves your knowledge. Q4. Poor planning can have an impact on the integrity of your research, for two key reasons? Students response: Firstly, because it can be tempting to try to compensate for lack of proper planning by cutting corners and bending a few rules later on. You should not do this. The more attention you give to planning you research the less likely you are to expose yourself to this kind of temptation. Secondly, because some planning on research is mandatory, not optional. The mandatory aspect of planning from the main content of this module.

Verbal Questioning – In Relation to Practical Tasks Job Card 2 Assessment methods must include questioning on required skills and knowledge to ensure correct interpretation and application Q1. What to do with the data/information? Students response: Data information obtained on logistical issues should be incorporated into the main study design. As the purpose of pilot study to assess the feasibility of an experiment it is very rarely sensible to present more than summary statistics of the data. In fact, the data might be irrelevant if problems with the methods are discovered. If a pilot study does not lead to modification of material or procedure, then the data might be suitable for incorporation to the main study. The sampling strategy used to select subjects, and the possibility of changes over time should be carefully considered before incorporating pilot data. Even if the pilot data is not used in this way and even if the final design differs markedly from the pilot it is useful to include information on the pilot study in any publication or report arising from the main experiment as this can inform the main experiment as this can inform the design of future experiments . Q2. What are three types of information sources? Students response: 1. Primary sources 2. Secondary sources 3. Tertiary sources
