You have a Kraft paper sample that measures 10 ” long x 1” wide x .00 6 ” thick . This paper was subjected to a tensile test, with force (lbs.) vs extension (inches) graph given below. Beyond point A, the extension was not directly proportional to force. This paper was broken at point B. (a) What is the Modulus of Elasticity for this paper sample? (14 pts) (b) What is the Tensile Stiffness for this paper sample? (3 pts) (c) What is the Tensile Strength (lb/in) for this paper sample? (3 pts)
PKG 322 SS 2024 Packaging with Paper and Paperboard Problem 2 ( 20 pts ) . A multiwall bag has 5 plies of 80-lbs kraft paper, a 4 mil LDPE liner (density=0.92 g/cm 3 ) and a 5 mil EVOH liner (density=1.2 g/cm 3 ). Each ply or liner measures 10 ft 2 . The price for kraft paper is about $1,000/ton, and LPDE resin is $1,800/ton, and EVOH is $7,000/ton. 1 mil 0.001 in 1 ft = 12 in 1 in = 2.54 cm 1 ton = 2000 lbs 1 lbs = 454 g = Estimate the cost of converted bag.
