Self- Reflection:
1.
Which Idea surprised you the most. Why?
The idea that surprised me the most was the AI motivator designed to help people get their life back on track. People today may feel unmotivated to complete a task and don’t have other people to give them that extra push.
This AI system is made to give that motivation to people and keep their tasks at hand with one another. I brainstormed many ways in which this AI system could possibly make peoples lives better. Even though it’s not the best idea, it’s creativity surprised me while brainstorming. 2.
What was the most challenging aspect of this step in the IDEATE method? Give a specific example.
The most challenging aspect in the identify and discover step was the part to search for ideas that seemed to have ongoing world problems. Even when coming to find problems, it was challenging to think of how exactly we can solve these problems. I would try to find many possible solutions that seemed to be the best in tackling
these problems. For example, referring to my heated car wheels idea, it was hard to find out a way to actually heat the car tires and if there even was a possible way to have that feature. 3.
What is your favourite idea? Is it different from the highest ranked idea? Why?
My favourite idea would have to be the VR live sports. The idea is to put a person courtside in an NBA game while there is a live game happening using a VR headset. It was ranked the highest for my ideas. I believe it’s an evolutionary idea and due to current circumstances like coronavirus, people are unable to attend these games in person or may find it financially unapplicable for them to purchase tickets. This saves a lot of people
money as courtside tickets go up to $1000+ while you’re paying for this experience at a very low subscription price.

Case Study – The New Engineer
Jeff was just hired by GSI, Inc. to be their Environmental and Safety Coordinator. This is Jeff's first position after completing his engineering degree. He had taken a course in safety engineering as part of his studies and felt confident that he could handle the job.
Management at GSI, Inc. has assured him that they are committed to maintaining a safe workplace. They have never had an individual dedicated to this task full-time. They will implement his recommendations if he can justify them.
As Jeff begins to get familiar with the operations, he spends considerable time on the production floor. He notices workers clean their tools before break with a liquid from an unmarked 55-gallon drum. They also use this liquid to clean residue from their skin. They use paper towels to dry their tools and hands, throw these towels in the trash, and head to the break room for a snack and/or smoke.
In talking with the workers, Jeff learns of some of…
