Guitar 1 Final Exam (100 points possible) Name: Prep - This includes the amount of time spent on the piece(s) and how thorough your understanding of the work is. It does not need to be memorized, but I’ll see the difference between those that spent plenty time with it and those that gave up quickly. Don’t worry about nerves – I’ve seen plenty nervous performers and plenty ill-prepared: there is a clear difference. Total points - 40 Tech – This includes your posture, left hand, right hand, thumb positions, arm location, foot prop, relaxed shoulders, fingertips (not flat, smooshed, or collapsed), and string approach. Total points - 25 Tempo – This is how consistent you will be from the beginning to the end of the piece. This includes mis- reading notes, speeding up/slowing down, and forgetting rests when listed. Total points - 20 Overall – This is a small category to catch whatever doesn’t fit in the above 3. Sometimes players have the habit of explaining the mistakes as they play them. Sometimes a player might memorize a piece (showing great prep) but memorizes some notes incorrectly. Anything that doesn’t quite fit the above categories will fall to overall points. Total points - 15
